Hi, are there any tools for recorded games ?
Like if you can go backwards in time etc. ?
Im a noob so i need alot of recs to learn good builds, sometimes i miss what is exactly going on because some people are too fast i cant notice stuff.
Any tools for recs ?
Re: Any tools for recs ?
As far as I'm concerned, no, otherwise people would already by using it
Re: Any tools for recs ?
I use the word "impossible" sparingly, but I would dare to say it's close to impossible to implement a way to go backwards in time with the current recorded games system. A rec file is just a very small file containing instructions exactly as players have executed them in their match. When you open a rec file it's like you would play a regular match, except all the commands are automatically executed per the rec file. You really can't easily "un-execute" the commands to go back. What the fast-forward button does is just throw more processing power at running the match, that's why the speed is dependent on your computer's specs.
To sum up, going to any specific time in a rec would require the game engine to recalculate everything that happened in the match all the way from its start to the desired point in time.

Thats how it worked in rome total war too, and funnily enough, due to the game being a bugridden mess, replays could have different results than the real game. XD
