[RE] Kami_Ryu vs Ward_V

Post by kami_ryu »

Fun, long game.

Well, I was a little salty in the end but I got over it fast. ~enjoy

PS: how does one contest water? I'm watching aiz's stream and he just said "if you don't contest water, it's not enough, ever"

Haven't seen the rec yet, but for context Aiz was (I think) referring to water in team games where there are 3-4 times more whales than on 1v1 maps.

Water is beatable with land play in 1v1 as long as the map doesn't heavily discourage land play, like maps such as Hispaniola, Indonesia, etc.

As in, let them have the water and just do your thing on land? Any general pointers on that?

I mean you played as well as I would have against goongoon. My only advice is if your opponent is going water and sacrifices map control like that take the tp line and upgrade stagecoach.

You should just go into single player and do stagecoach so you can feel how op it is.

The best way to play against water is full boom on land. Take map control, control trading posts and hold until fish and resources in his base run out. As British you could go virginia company and make many longbows and dragoons, if the Portuguese player goes age 4 add culverins.

But culv get rekt by monitors and jinete dragoon heavy cannon culverin is pretty hard to beat. I think u have to contest water at some point with warships, outposts and artillery of your own as soon as possible or you will just lose to better eco and tech
