Congratulations @britishmusketeer! Not betting heavily on all games, and sometimes not betting at all, but placing your bets accurately when you actually do bet heavily - a well deserved win!
More importantly, many thanks to you @Goodspeed for investing your time and money into hosting this glorious event!

Amazing event, as always! I thoroughly enjoyed getting 500 extra points only to lose them all on the first occasion The battle at the top was very close, congratulations to britishmusketeer — indeed!

Re: Spring 2017 Betting discussion
There was never any final write up for this after the finals, was there?
Re: Spring 2017 Betting discussion
Yeah sorry there will be. I haven't been in the right mindset to write it
Re: Spring 2017 Betting discussion
Esteemed gamblers of ESOC,
It's britishmusketeer who had the last laugh. Not Gendarme or roiarthurbis, who came damn close and found themselves in first place in multiple occasions this event. Britishmusketeer takes home the gold and it's a hard-earned and well-deserved victory, as he has always been a successful better not unknown to being in first place. Grats to him!
In the days leading up to the finals, his rivals Gendarme and roiarthurbis must have been spamming F5 and watching britishmusketeer's bets, but they never came. An evil grin on his face, britishmusketeer saw them frantically switching around their bets and, sipping his whisky, decided that it would not be necessary to place a bet. This is a man who had it all figured out, and what better way to win the betting event than by not placing a single bet on the finals? The 5-3 result, which had been obvious to him for months by then, would not lose him the event after all. Roiarthurbis did bet on the result, but he inexplicably had another 10000 points on LordRaphael. Gendarme on the other hand had 14000 of his points on Raphael, and none on BlackStar.
It was malassaad, previously in 5th place, who made the best bet in the finals. The record for most points won in a single match is often broken in the finals, and this time was no different. He takes home 18706 points and overtakes both Gendarme and roiarthurbis. Grats on second place!
Roiarthurbis takes third and zoom, still the undisputed king of betting, is randomly in fourth. He started his comeback a little late this time. A miscalculation. The king is mortal.
Our most consistent better was aligator92, winning points in 19 out of the 23 matches he participated in which is 83%. This is an impressive feat, as no one else came close. Second most consistent was britishmusketeer himself, with 67%. Last event, our most consistent better was lemmings121 with 73%. I think this is a record that will stick for quite a while to come, and surely aligator92 is one to look out for in future events!
GG all, and see you next event! (there won't be a betting event for the WarChiefs special)
Feedback/suggestions are always welcome.

Suggestion: Retrospectively 25% of the prize money should go to most consistent better. Whoever that might be

Fake news, despite 0 points I've been sitting comfortably at 75% consistency for months.

I guess you would have to bet on a reasonable amount of matches. Say 60%
And also not have done things where you just bet the calculated amount on every single result where you make a small amount of profit no matter what the outcome of the match is
Re: Spring 2017 Betting discussion
Bet consistency is irrelevant, to be honest. If having good bet consistency was the goal, you wouldn't bet on unlikely outcomes, even if the odds are great. It's nothing but a (clever) marketing stunt by GoodSpeed.

well that was exactly was I did in the first half of last tournament, then half way through i decided to gamble, since the safe strategy will never pay big xD ... still got 72% tho, but as far as i remember I had 100% in the first half
