Civilization Restrictions
These civilization restrictions have the purpose to bring variety to the game series for the community.
You must play X different civilizations, then you can play any civilization one more time:
In a Best-of-3, you must play 2 different civilizations, then you can play any civilization one more time.
In a Best-of-5, you must play 3 different civilizations, then you can play any civilization one more time.
In a Best-of-7, you must play 4 different civilizations, then you can play any civilization one more time.
In a Best-of-9, you must play 5 different civilizations, then you can play any civilization one more time.
Example for BO3: You must play 2 different civilizations, then you can play any civilization you want one more time.
Game 1 (Best-of-3)
Player A plays British
Player B plays French
Game 2 (Best-of-3)
Player A may not play British
Player B may not play French
Player A plays Dutch
Player B plays Russians
Game 3 (Best-of-3)
Player A may play any civilization (he may either pick British or Dutch)
Player B may play any civilization (he may either pick French or Russians)
Player A plays British
Player B plays Russians

Re: Tournament Rules & Discussion
Gameplay Rules
1.1 - Players will freely pick their civilization in game 1. After that, players alternatively pick their civilization, starting with the winner of game 1.
1.2 - Every player must respect their opponent, casters and organizers. Misbehavior will result in a warning and can lead into disqualification. Racism and/or insults will not be tolerated.
1.3 - Every game must be recorded.
1.4 - When a player disconnects from the internet BEFORE 2 minutes, the player can (when both agree) restart and replay the game. When the opponent does not agree to restart, the outcome of the game will be determined by the tournament staff.
1.5 - When a player disconnects AFTER 2 minutes, the players can (when both agree) restart and replay the game. When the opponent does not agree to restart, the player who lost connection will be given a loss.
1.6 - Every player may restart a game BEFORE the 2 minute mark when necessary. This is allowed ONCE per map when the game is NOT casted by an official caster. Restarts for CASTED games will be determined by the caster him/herself.
1.7 - The caster is allowed to restart a game as many times as necessary for optimal play.
1.8 - All games must be submitted to the "Tournament Record Games" forum.
1.9 - Recorded games must be renamed and posted to match the stick in the recorded games section.
1.10 - Players must be respectable to each other when selecting civilizations in a game. Players cannot intentionally change to unfair match-ups, or otherwise be difficult to agree to a match-up. The tournament staff reserves the right to two possible outcomes. 1. If only one player is deemed challenging, then that player will be forced to pick their civilization first. 2. If both players are disagreeable then blind pick will be enforced. This decision is made by the staff.

Re: Tournament Rules & Discussion
Map Pool, Map Rules, and Map Vetoes
The map pool for the entire tournament will be as follows:
Group Stages: Kamchatka, Malaysia, High Plains
RO128: Fertile Crescent, Jebel Musa, Herald Island, Florida, Manchac
RO64: Thar Desert, Tassili, Baja California, Mendocino, Manchuria
RO32: Hudson Bay, Arizona, Colorado, Bengal, Malaysia, Kamchatka, Fertile Crescent
RO16: Arkansas, Tassili, Pampas Sierras, Klondike, Baja California, Adirondacks, Bengal
RO8: Mendocino, Indonesia, Thar Desert, Tibet, Iowa, Jebel Musa, Herald Island, Manchuria, Cascade Range, High Plains, Tassili
RO4: Jebel Musa, Tassili, Gran Chaco, Manchuria, Klondike, Manchac, Hudson Bay, Fertile Crescent, Bengal, Malaysia, Arkansas
RO2: Mendocino, Iowa, Florida, Thar Desert, Indonesia, Gran Chaco, Herald Island, Bonnie Springs, Tibet, Cascade Range, High Plains, Manchuria, Kamchatka
Bronze Match: Herald Island, Adirondacks, Pampas Sierras, Malaysia, High Plains, Bengal, Fertile Crescent, Mendocino, Jebel Musa, Arkansas, Colorado
Veto System
6.1 - The veto system is active from the bracket stages only. (RO128)
6.2 - Both players have one veto per BO3 & BO5 and two vetoes per BO7.
6.3 - The player with the highest 1v1 ELO at the time of seeding will pick their veto first.
6.4 - The veto must be issued in the scheduling thread by Thursday.
6.5 - Failure to issue the veto in time will result in your opponent receiving your veto; essentially giving them two vetoes
6.6 - If both players fail to issue their veto in time, the last two maps will automatically be removed
6.7 - After vetoes have been issued, maps will move down one spot.
Example
The map pool for a BO3 is:
1) ESOC Manchuria
2) ESOC Indonesia
3) ESOC Arkansas
4) ESOC Kamchatka
5) ESOC Fertile Crescent
Player 1 has an ELO of 2100
Player 2 has an ELO of 2200
Player 2 issues his veto first.
Player 2 bans ESOC Arkansas
Player 1 bans ESOC Manchuria
The new map pool for a BO3 is:
1) ESOC Manchuria
2) ESOC Indonesia
3) ESOC Arkansas
4) ESOC Kamchatka
5) ESOC Fertile Crescent
Therefore:
1) ESOC Indonesia
2) ESOC Kamchatka
3) ESOC Fertile Crescent

Ro8 is listed as a Best of 5, so 1 veto for each player, but there are 11 maps? Is it supposed to be a best of 7? (Which would then make sense as 2 vetos per player gives 7+4=11)

The tech has been fixed... You are allowed to use it.Mr_Bramboy wrote:3.7 - Use of the Chinese monastery tech "Training Reforms" is not allowed in the tournament. This tech is bugged and affects all units in certain circumstances so it has been removed.
Patch Notes:

Hi
It´s my first tournament and I´m very exited to get crushed by all of you
How does the groupstages work? It´s just one battle or a BO3? How many players are in one group? Are they all playing against each other?
How can I train on ep when I know no people playing and am just pr15, which means I am not a good training partner but want to learn the maps and the patch?

kinda out of luck to find a training partner but maybe you can find another pr15. The group stages are 1v1 best of 3 (first person to 2 wins)If you win your groupstage round you advance to the R0162. but you can always play against a computer on expert & try buildorders etc and learn the new maps. Good Luck this tournament

well if you forfeit you dont get a prize anyways so i dont see how that encourages losers finals being played.

this makes no sense. Lets just say we split 1.5k like this 1. 800 2. 400. 3 200 4. 100
then you still double the amount of money you make. And if some1 forfeits it doesnt matter anyways, becasue he wont get any money regardless.

I guess thats a fair point. I just think people in 4th place are losers that don't deserve money.

i already made this point before. but ye, cant reason with da dutcheese!
I think prizemoney should be top4 as well, but it's not unprecedented if its only top3. There are good arguments for both sides.

Re: Tournament Rules & Discussion
Let me just, for the record, put it out again, so ye Lordrapheal and Umeu are right. Top 3 and this skewed distribution is just stupid. Obviously it should be for top 4. And with more of the prize pool going to the 3rd place there is, apart from the achievement itself, a good reason to get 3rd not 4th.
The 1st place getting double the amount of 2nd is more than enough. Top 4 prize pool would be much more stimulating for everyone participating. Also for some others, who are good players but not top 3, to join as well.
