New York City is going—in a big way—for worker-owned cooperatives. Inspired by the model of CHCA and prodded by a new network of co-op members and enthusiasts, Mayor Bill de Blasio and the New York City Council allocated $1.2 million to support worker cooperatives in 2015’s budget. According to the Democracy at Work Institute, New York’s investment in co-ops is the largest by any U.S. city government to date.

Some would say that capitalism has this built in flaw that inevitably will create unsustainable inequality. I guess I am one of those ppl. In scandinavia we also have a capitalist system, but with the difference to America, we have better regulation - thus far.
The global economy has for the last 30 years meant that small companies has been gobbled up by big ones, to an extent that the Big Corp are enormous powerful and can blackmail governments for tax breaks (or else they leave) and can more or less dictate a country's economic politics.
I think 3 basic changes has to be done:
1. governments in the world has go unite to get rid of tax havens. I think if USA and EU where to push for more regulations, transparency and fair taxes- there would be enough resources for us all.
2. Governments should encourage and help fund cooperatives, cos cooperatives are not easily bought by big corp, and they are not likely to move overseas.
3. a big portion of the "new" money from fair taxing of big corp and the very rich, should be channeled to making "green" energy - on a local basis. (hydro, wind, solar and also Thorium based nuclear power)

Lets face it; Capitalism has not proved good at resolving the great challenge we face, concerning global warming and pollution.

Too bad Labour will never be elected unless the Conservative Party disintegrates after an out vote in the EU Referendum.

Though I agree with you, cos this is what has happened in the past when there was a faulty assumption of "trickle down" effect - there is so much evidence of this not working now.

London is the world capital for dirty money.

This is pretty much the reward England and particular London is left with, after allowing dirty money to stream into their economy, because they believed in the "trickle down" economy.
It's becoming increasingly hard for ordinary ppl to buy their own home.

I agree that there is conflicting interests, and that it will be hard to get agreements. Even so I think it will be done, some time in the future.
EU and USA should be the first to join forces to make such an agreement. The way the world economy is working now, will increase the problems - and sooner or later, changes has to be made.
Im not convinced that Clinton would take steps toward this, but maybe next time USA elect a true progressive. And maybe labour party will be elected in England?
We shall wait and see (and hope).

Yeah unfortunately there's still nationalism. Because of that, screwing over the rest of the world by being a taxhaven is socially acceptable. It only matters when you screw over fellow countrymen.
