Worst part about this is that Hollande announced today that he won't be extending the emergency period because most of the terrorism threats have been subsided..

Hollande is an idiot. His country is attacked with the same violence you can see in a warzone. Civilians are killed as if the streets were warzone trenches. There is a stealthy war going on in France. Who knows how many ISIS followers are just waiting for the right moment to use whatever can kill most civilians. Could be bioterrorist attack with deadly bacteria spread in supermarkets, could be trucks speeding up into crowds, they don't even need weapons.

Meanwhile Hollande pays his barber 10000 euros per month to take care of his precious hair:

Now if we are going to take the left wing approach to things here we must ban or regulate something. should we ban 1. terroist, 2. trucks, or 3. large crowds of people?

1. dont take part in middle east conflicts 2. dont accept immigrates

poor people: they vote for the bosses to become presidents, the presidents destroy the home of immigrates, and the immigrates kill the people. a ridiculous circle.

France is in more places than just the Middle East. Afghanistan, this is true, but also Mali, Libya, etc.

There are French expats to protect and we have alliances with different governments in Africa. We have to be out there.

Secondly, don't accept immigrants is dumb to say, might as well "ban terrorism"

but 1. it's hard to depart terrorists from immigrants 2. euro countries dont HAVE to accept them. why doesnt USA accept 1 million immigrants?

We(Eu + usa) took war on them in the middle east and are still bombing them with thousands of bombs. USA is just being a dick for not accepting refugees(actually they do, but iirc its only like 10k from syria) from the middle east. There is a nice saying in germany(1to1 word translation):
"Who sows bombs, harvests refugees."

This happened because that driver had easy access to a truck. If there was truck-control legislation this attack could have been avoided. We should ban all trucks.

@Couprider you're talking about refugees, I thought you meant normal immigrants from North Africa or something. The terrorist in question here is a French-Tunisian person, 31 years old. Not a migrant. Just a religious fundamentalist really

Rofl, I've nver said that they deserved it, since france and many other states intervene in syria and other middle east states.
As long as you try to fight terrorism with bombs, you will never succeed. Groups like ISIS and Al-Qaida are only succesful, because they are supported by a part of the arabic population. These people support them, because they are surpressed due their religion(sunni - shiite conflict) and ,also, the hatred towards the western world, because of all civilian casualities with all these bombings. Jerom also mentioned it in another thread and was pretty much laughed at.

I'm afraid this can no longer be solved with decent measures. France and the EU will have to do something equally radical about the presence of people of Arab origins or of Muslims on its territory. This is yet another proof that globalism doesn't work with some cultures like the Muslim one. They are not a globalist culture, they can't stand other cultures, they are intolerant of any other lifestyle except their own. I mean, look at Saudi Arabia where Sharia is the source of public law. They use those barbaric methods of punishment, just like during the Medieval Age. But I digress.

First of all, the West should stop their involvement in the Middle East. If the USA doesn't want that, then Europe/EU should say "sorry, m8s, but if we keep bombing them, we increase the waves of migrants coming over to our territories and we increase the risks of terrorist attacks". The USA doesn't quite give a shit, since they are protected by two oceans which separate them from any direct migratory invasion. They only have to worry about radicalised muslims who get access to weapons. But they don't have to deal with the risk of allowing 1 milion Arab/Muslim migrants on their territory and then to discover that some of them might have been infiltrated ISIS people.

Hollande, on the other hand, in response to this attack says:

Code: Select all

"We will further strengthen our actions in Syria and Iraq," Hollande said, calling the tragedy on the day that France marks the 1789 revolutionary storming of the Bastille prison in Paris an attack on liberty by fanatics who despised human rights.

In other words, we will keep doing what is causing these attacks. So, in conclusion France is at war: French troops are attacking Middle East countries, and people from those countries are attacking civilians in France. As I said before, terrorists don't need cellphones, don't need internet, they already know these are monitored so they don't use them. They don't even need weapons. They can use a truck or big personal machine with makeshift explosives in it, they can get some deadly bacteria from their chemists and spread them in grocery stores to infect as many people as possible (bioterror attacks). They can use a wide array of methods to kill as many people as possible with the least casualties for them (one person or just a few).

And France will continue to have these occasional warzones in their cities, with tens of dead bodies lying in pools of blood, and nobody will be safe in a big city or in large crowds or in public spaces. That's the definition of terrorism, it aims at creating a state of terror in a large population by using minimal means.

Everyone in Europe has only one place to put the blame and its the governments. It is not us ordinary people who want to bomb the middle east into oblivion, its our corrupt governments. I remember the uproar here in the UK about the Iraq war, the majority of people didn't want us to get involved. And now we are supposed to feel guilty because our governments are criminals. Unless us ordinary people stand up to our corrupt governments then they will continue acting the way they do.
