Metis had some faults but redneck was not one of them. I can only assume that this is racism against white Americans who happen to use firearms.

He was definitely showing some signs of racism, if I remember correctly. And he was using some scientific arguments for that, also, iirc. I'm not sure if it was one of those cases where someone is hiding their racism behind scientific arguments, or if he had racist attitudes based only on cognitive stuff.
