Following on from the successful Spring tournament won by none other than Dr BlackStar_OP in a [a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTxOealh_3U&'list=PL4DwBHWnAJtRx6ogjfR6aiXXXtav4FNxP&'index=1"]nailbiting BO9 finale[/a] with wily old veteran _H2O, get excited for the Summer tournament which last week officially got underway!
As it happens, my own ro 256 BO3 was one of the first to be played as my opponent showed up on stream, meaning it is available [a href="http://www.twitch.tv/esoctv/c/6918250"]as a vod[/a] on [a href="http://www.twitch.tv/esoctv/profile"]Esoc's Twitch[/a] channel.
In terms of live streaming content, casting and streaming matches will begin with the ro 64, on EsocTv's Twitch, so mark the date: July 13th.

The Players
First and foremost are the names to look out for as the tournament progresses, so lets profile some of them
BlackStar_OP
Coming off of his victory against _H2O in the Spring, BS_OP stakes a strong claim as the favourite to make it two in a row. This guy is looking great on all counts' on top of the meta, clean mechanics and well versed in every civ, there's no doubt he will prove tough to dislodge, so with that in mind, who is there vying to push him off the throne?
Samwise12
[strike]Known as one of the very best Albanian aoe3 players[/strike] A player who needs no introduction. So onto...oh alright, we'll do an intro. One of the best players in the game's history, Samwise is known for dominating, along with _H2O, the fan patch 1.2 era so hard that he went and broke the power rating system. Sam is an aggressive, mechanical player. Watch out for this fella.

Kiljardi
Another veteran, Kiljardi used to swim around pr 45, and he's no slouch. Known as a tricky player, he plays all civs and would not be an opponent anyone is happy to see themselves paired up against. Going against him is rustiness, but he showed last tournament he still performs to a high level.
Garja
A player well known throughout recent AOE 3 history as he is always there and about in the latter stages and finals of events, Garja is well rounded and mechanically proficient. He certainly has the skills to go all the way, it will just be a matter of performing when it comes down to it.
BadSpeed aka MusketJr
[strike]Primarily known for his uninstall micro [/strike] Representing nilla scrubs, Musket is a solid, again mechanical player who has become slightly corrupted by time spent observing the hybrid cow/human known as Aizamk, but nevertheless looks to be a contender going forward. Keep an eye on this one, even if I say so myself.
Shmras
One of the top tier Japanese players, Shmras is a name well known to both the western and eastern AOE 3 communities. Coming from the Jp side of things, he brings with him an unorthodox, mechanical style along with solid execution.
Soldier aka IamSoldier
Soldier is another veteran on the scene, and a well rounded one at that. He tends to play aggressively, and plays all civs. Although he lost, he showed against _H2O in the Spring that he is a match for anyone and even came up with [a href="https://youtu.be/CnAKZ814_do?t=20m2s"]a wild French mirror build order[/a] during that series.
Dark Horses
Ramex12
My personal pick as a dark horse, Ramex is primarily a team game player but emphasizes crisp micro and solid, effective builds, two things that could take him all the way.
PrinceofKabul
One of the rising stars in the western scene, Prince is also a team player, but more versed in 1v1 and also focuses on his efficiency with his units. A good all round player, he plays every civ and could take anyone down.
Diarouga
A familiar face on the forums here, as well as hosting and playing 1v1s on eso, Dia is another rising star who makes sure he knows how the strongest civs work, as well as keeping on top of the meta. He also stands out as one of the players happy to play the sea warfare game, so look out for that.
LordRaphael
I've already picked a personal dark horse, but what hell, lets make it two. Rapha came into the tournament at the last moment, but is an exciting addition and plays in a controlled, aggressive manner. His best attribute is his game sense, but his weakness will be lack of experience with every civ. Still though, I wouldn't be surprised however far he goes.
Mitoe
[strike]Representing dirty mac scrubs everywhere[/strike] Representing Canada [sup]what's that all aboot, eh? [/sup]Mitoe is a strong player who, to be honest is only a dark horse because he unfortunately will be suffering from suboptimal playing conditions as he spends his summer in the barren wastelands of northern Canada, remote from civilization, encountering humanity only through either his McJob at McDonalds or his so called internet connection. May we all pray for his soul, but not for his uhlans.
[i style="font-size:xx-large'font-weight:bold'"]Betting Competition

The awesome GoodSpeed has once again organised a betting event to run along with the tournament. Starting 6th July there will be a $100 prize for the player with the most points at the end, and all the relevant info can be found in [a href="http://eso-community.net/thread/1312/info-rules"]this thread[/a].
Vods and Streams
EsocTv on Twitch will be your place to follow streamed and casted content for the Summer tournament. Casting will begin during the ro 64 which starts 13th July. Bookmark, follow, whatever you do, remember that Esoc's Twitch channel is the place to follow the tournament

Vods and Recorded Games: Where available, vods will be easily found on the [a href="http://eso-community.net/page/brackets"]Tournament Brackets[/a] page. Simply click on one of the players in a matchup that has been played and you will see links to either vod content of the games, where applicable, or links to where you can download the recorded games.
Rules and a timeline can be found [a href="http://eso-community.net/thread/753/tournament-information"]here[/a].
Future Tournaments and Donations

There is more of the same planned, to bring in high quality AOE 3 content in tournament settings for a long time to come, but it has to be mentioned that these events are only possible thanks to donations that enable us to put up a prize pool. We have a Winter tournament planned, as well as more events following on from that but they can only happen if donation goals are reached. You can donate towards the Winter tournament [a href="http://eso-community.net/page/donate"]here[/a].
On that note, a big thanks to the people who donated for the current tournament. GoodSpeed, Stanley Winston (Amhaye) and _H2O were the biggest donors, and along with them a number of other awesome people contributed.
Now it's time to green up and start queuing up those hussars.
