Bracket Stage Begins, and Group Stage Review!
Bracket Stage Begins, and Group Stage Review!
Okay, we were a little late in getting the brackets and scheduling threads set up for the RO128. We had a few kinks to work through with our new bracket system, but now that we've got that all worked out, you can see the final bracket here!: http://eso-community.net/bracket-w2015.php
ESO-Community AoE3 Seasonal Championships Winter 2015/2016: Group Stage Review
For those of you interested in the group stage standings: http://eso-community.net/gs-w2015.php
The opening stages of the ESO-Community, AoE3 Seasonal Championships: Winter 2015/2016 event have just concluded. This tournament has seen the introduction of an exciting best-of-3, round-robin group stage format preceding the round-of-128 play-off bracket to afford more players more games in a competitive setting. As was perhaps to be expected, some groups have turned out to be more competitive than others – in theory as well as practice.
In the highly contested, thusly dubbed groups "of death" 7, 12 and 27, "DogSoldier_" & "djigit", "Bart331" aka "Kiljardi's Hope-buddy" & "Jerom_" aka "Jerom's Sister's Brother" and "Django_Unchained" aka "Smurfing-Until-Proven-Innocent" & "Mr_Bramboy" respectively all excelled to edge out their fierce competitors through an impressive showing of skill. This should render them some of the major tournament contenders to come through the group stage into the play-offs, joining other group stage players such as:
– a6686496
– abadontea
– GiveUAnxiety
– LoOk_tOm
– Lukas_L99 aka "The Power Glove"
– lzscky
– MASTERdutch aka "MiniMart" aka "#sonofmart"
– Ovi12 aka "The New Pride of Romania" aka "The Second Coming of Blackstar_OP"
– Risi123
– Stanley_Winston aka "Amhaye" aka "The Father of ESOC"
– Tibia
– totalchaos aka "bobabu"
– wookl
Lastly, we would like to extend special mentions to _the_force_, Django_Unchained aka "Smurfing-Until-Proven-Innocent", Macro1698, almalek13 and yemshi, who all swept through their respective groups without losing a match. Overall,—although there was the odd surprise—we consider it safe to say that for the most-part, the favorites reigned supreme.
ESOC would like to thank all tournament participants and wish those of you who remain in competition (with the sole exception of Zoi aka "Manklslayer") a successful run in the play-offs and more exciting matches to come. The ESO population is peaking, and so are spirits of multiple kinds, due in no small part to the holiday season and its accompanying Steam sale.
Finally, we hope everyone is having a happy holiday season, much like we hope to be seeing you on ESO and ESOC alike!

My bad. I even took special care to look at the capitalization of nicknames. I think yours is the only one I missed.
The post doesn't say a thing about games, by the way...
Re: Bracket Stage Begins, and Group Stage Review!
Np. Ah, you are talking about matches. What the hell is the difference?

A "best-of" is a "match" or "series" AFAIC.
