Not getting notified for likes
Sometimes when people "like" my posts I don't get notified about it, and only realize it's happened because I see the post again and the like counter has increased.
I would like to be made aware of every single "like" so I know which members of the forums are on my side and which are not.

Re: Not getting notified for likes
I have noticed this problem as well.
A post not made is a post given away

Re: Not getting notified for likes
This problem is well known, I reported it to mut, mostly it does not notify any likes but the first one.
Re: Not getting notified for likes
I think it's because likes are treated as quotes, and at some earlier point (when you would get notified for likes) you'd get a notification everytime a post was quoted that contained your post (even if you are the first post in a 10 post quote tunnel). When they fixed this the likes stopped working properly.
Which is fine though, I'm not a huge fan of the like system.

Re: Not getting notified for likes
I propose that we remove that feature, so that Ear doesn't feel tormented by it.

I also think we should get notified everytime a quote of ours is quoted.

@edeholland what happened when you were working on fixing this? Was too much work?
Pay more attention to detail.

Re: Not getting notified for likes
How is this a problem? It's more like an improvement not to be notified at every single like. I thought it was on purpose only the 1st one gives you a notification
Re: Not getting notified for likes
It is a problem you're not getting notified for re-quoted quote bc it's not a direct reply to the quote. On likes tho, people like the only post in question so it should be notified, just like it is on Facebook.

Re: Not getting notified for likes
The ideal case is to have a setting that lets you toggle whether you'd like to be notified for every like or just the first one (same with quote tunnels). Obviously, I get so many likes on my posts that I wouldn't want to enable the setting, but I could see how the like-impoverished would want this feature. I suspect it's a lot of work to implement though.

Sounds like a job for a data engineer.

I have too many posts to go back and look at who has liked each one, but I need the know that info so I know who is an ally and who isn't.

I don't actually know what it entails but I bet it involves scary words like Javascript and PHP, which makes it certainly not a job for any of the data engineers that I know.

Oh, that's right. I forgot you're a lazy bird who prefers to cook dinner while your tests are running for hours before they fail and you have to re-run them in order to discuss Ear's future in ESOC staff.

I think the "ESOC like" stats should be made public.

As a mod I would be in favor of this as part of my radical transparency agenda.
