Where to witch hunt? Where to accuse cheaters? Where to swear at others?
Where to witch hunt? Where to accuse cheaters? Where to swear at others?
Hi all, this is nice and simply.. Since we aren't allowed to accuse other players of cheating on this forum, or swear at eachother, or any of that.. Where can we do it?
I'm sure there is some type of benefit to naming a cheater and then sharing past experiences about them on one thread so that others will know not to play with them again.

Simply go to the cheater's home or place of employment and harass them there.

I'm not aware of any place to do that by the way.

The ESO-C discord server may be a good place for this actually.

In your head. Thats the only place for these thoughts and comments. They are there and should stay there preferably.

This is a valid question, no troll.
It would help the community spot cheaters and isolate them so they would be forced to stop cheating or get a new account ect.
It makes sense to create a section for acusations and proof and stuff

They said we would have cheat busters come on this site a while ago.

If you play on EP, you dont need to care about cheaters.

Actually ESOC policy is that we don't condone that witch hunts at all.
Having a cheater section is also not going to find its place here. We've discussed this several times already and more or less each time we've agreed that we won't have a section about cheating accusations on these boards. I'll move this to Site Suggestions if you want and I'll even be nice enough to keep it open. If other staff feel like closing this, that's fine, naturally. Personally I don't mind discussion on these topics; I do like to read up on what the community wants.
However, more or less, there will not be a section for cheating here on ESOC.

Having a section for this would put the site staff and moderation in an awkward position where we have to arbitrate and make judgement on each of these posts. What happens when the accused appears? Naturally, they'll either ask for the post to be taken down or post in the thread and start swearing at everyone. Then the staff has to decide whether the accusations against that user are just or not. There are already enough critics of our moderation policies that such a section would just create more problems, and the amount of manpower required to moderate a section that is naturally argument-provoking is just not worth it.
While I agree there would be small benefits, it's simply not practical, due to the following issues:
- Requires too much time and effort to moderate
- Turns ESOC staff into arbitrators of cheating accusations
- Opens up staff to more criticism (reasonably, because such arbitration would be hard to get right)
- Creates negative and accusatory environment
Feel free to warn players about cheaters via other channels, but not on ESOC.

We could have a cheater list with only 100% sure accusations tho. Like people not opening threads about cheaters or anything, but pming the staff with solid proofs, and then the staff adds the name to the list

I thought the old RTS sanctuary had a good system for cheat busters.

At which point again, the staff is required to make judgement on people. There's never any such thing as "100% sure". I can go photoshop screenshots, mod the game to make it display certain players' names, whatever. So it just opens the staff up for more attacks from the community for making the "wrong" judgement.

I wasn't ever active on RTS-sanc, but if I recall correctly, this was because they were involved with reporting them to Microsoft, wasn't it?

They had a two strike system. The first strike was only visible to the mods but with a second strike it became visible to everyone. There was proof that was required along with empirical evidence that the person did do the thing that they were accused of.

I see what you mean. There are some things we can be 100% sure of tho. Just look in the elo details of a game, you can already find half of cheaters. Or even write all the well known cheaters, that we know cheat repteadly, but some players might not have heard of, etc.
