Can't tag other users

I've learned how to do it, but now it doesn't work for me. I type „@"

and the „Tag user" window is opened, but it's empty, regardless of what I write after „@"

edit: looks like i'm able to tag you without using the window. write the name properly and it seems esoc does the rest

It's about the code. The way its designed is a loophole because tagging functions didn't exist and would've been a huge pain in the ass to make. Its a quote, which is hidden by the commands notify-user and /notify-user, then in front of it there's a bolded @

The reason that names with spaces are difficult is that it is difficult to make the difference between "#name with space" and "#name but now my message is here". How do you know if the user is called "name" or "name with" or "name with space"? You need a clear endpoint and that is not possible if we should keep the simple syntax of the tagging and let peiple tag manually (not selecting name from the window). Imo spaces in usernames should just have been banned.

Yes thats because it has to be parsed after you post, because the code looks different when its been interpreted by phpbb. So it cant be different code depending on if you selected from the window or wrote it manually. So even if it would be written correctly when you select a user from the list it wouldnt work after that. It needs an out of the phpbb code solution

I can't tag _venox_, when I insert „_" in the box it has no effect at all, hence I can't type his username correctly.
