General Answers and Questions INDIAN

Post by Sydaphex »

Hey poops,

I got few questions and to keep this thread more "open"/wide ranged in general questioning i created this thread.

Well, iam new to AOE 3 someone may know.

1. I like the elephants from indian and would like to created an army. But its a long way to get access to these buddys, it takes much time to stomp out an army.
- its a good way to turlte until you can build the full range of elephants? Or its to slow? - Its not viable?
I like to turlte strategies!

2. Whats Most up to date indian guide actually?

Because i dont know how the card deck have to be?! Must haves?

Thank you very much in advance!
I like this community actually!

Regards

Don't play India. It's broken. You should try playing Ottoman, bacause it's an easy civ to learn and it's pretty good. They only really lose to India, Portugal and Japan.
According to @Zhanson10 .

For learning india, check pecelot links, special atention to goodspeed guide where you will have a more standard vision of the game, better for a begginer.

About your "i like turtle strategies!!1" that's what every single new player in the game says. And I warn you that it is probably the hardest way to play the game, but have fun! :p

If you want to turtle, try to play ports FI with Colonial Militia into sniper dragoons. Each game will take about one hour but its very satisfying to play vs one trick pony rushers

Play FFA tons to learn to turtle, then play it ranked games.

basically go to age 3 fast, send cards. 1.25 tr, 600 c 700 f shipments. to get to age 3. in transition make sepoy for defense.
go food heavy use mahout cards, build more sepoy and like 10-15% gurka. build up and wait longer and get the 2 siege elese too and then to go town....

No one is prohibiting that, it's just about civilisations' strengths and weaknesses!

Turtling isn't really viable in this game outside of kinda niche situations, it's balanced this way intentionally. It's much better to focus on a strong economy and map/resource control with your army. Nobody"s saying you can't turtle with India, just that turtling itself isn't good.

Strengths to India turtle:

vils cost wood making your food last longer, as wood is closer, no herding trees, and plentiful.
can make agra fort.
taj mahal gives extra time to stop enemy before they get in base
can use its defensive position in conjunction with tower of vic for push back from all in enemy attacks
fast building time for wall repairs and new FB. (with card)
poping armies from consulate
cheaper buildings through consulate and card.
free vill with each card.
XP through livestock.

Things any civ can use to turtle

walls (ok no sioux but they have their other options for strong turtle)
towers
defensive positioning
sea fishing
economy upgrades

Weakness for turtle

less range on siege eles to counter culv/ mortar combo.
slow coin production if run out of mines.
if base is too cluttered elephants can have trouble moving to attack invaders.
asian civ minutemen are weak.

well no one is going to win if they only turtle and fight from their base. the attacker should be able to find a weakness or break point eventually. Unless the other player can completely defend in walls.

But It is possible to play defensive turtle until you can get an indian death chain going with 5+ mahouts.

its a good time to sneak a couple sepoy out on the map and build a few barracks around their base and attack from multiple sides later.

Not having cannons really hurts turtling. Also, India can't really powerboom behind walls the same way that Ports can (for example) which kinda sucks for them long term. Gurkha are really strong behind walls though and siege ele, while better offensively, will take out enemy artillery pretty well.

Yes Ports do it best. (well.... maybe aztecs...)

Doesn't mean india doesn't have options.
you can get some cannon from the consulate, but yeah..... also urumi and mahouts together kill better faster than cannons and are kind of meant to be that.
one advantage is that india also fights better on an open field. Once they get to your walls that's when you can play india aggressively VS their FB or flank opponent

I think "india turtle" just lose to any euro civ agressive ff, china can ff and crush it, japa 200/200 boom then do literally anything and win. aztec FI, sioux/iro fortress timming.

india is a good civ, but you have to be agressive with it....

Yeah I think having some good building placement and no walls is overall better for India, that way you can trap with melee unit pops more effectively.
