When to use attack move and when not.

This has baffled me for awhile now. When it's a high health points (HP) unit I single target them. And when there's no running with strells I also single shot the cavalry units.

Allot of people don't even use it, I've also seen pro's not use it.

Most people that know how to use it are Master Sergeant +

Use it when you've a lot of units. Use micro skill if you've tiny amount of units.

Use attack move if the units you are using attack move with are closest to their counters. For example, if you have a line of skirms in front of a line of musk, attack move is good. But if there are some huss in between your skirms and the musk, then don't attack move. Usually when you have big skirm goon cav fights, the cav and goons will just clash in the middle so you can just attack move your huss and goons. But you need to micro your skirms on the goons, because otherwise they will shoot the huss.

And yeah when you have small nubbers of units try to micro every single unit.

Attack move is also good with melee units so that they don't waste time walking around trying to go to the same unit. You have to get close to what you want to kill then att move.

for example, If you have say 5 musk vs opponents 5 musk, use all 5 to shoot 1 musk.

if you have a mass of musk vs a mass of musk, then it's acceptable to attack move

With attack aove you may have 30 musk musks shooting at the same target.

yes, in this case, att move is lazy mode. If for example he puts the explorer in front, you will waste a whole volley on him

In large musk vs musk wars, attack move is better than trying to micro them.

My 35 cents: For melee units I (almost) always attack move...Click behind enemy units (not ON them), wait until your units are in the middle of the mass. Attack move. All of your units are attacking something. If you attack move before you're inside his army, many of your melee units will run around in circles before they reach an enemy to fight.

But yeah, for high hp units and small armies obviously it's better to focus fire.

For ranged:
If he has 20 units, and you attack move so that you every volley of fire damage all of them 10% each, you're not doing well. It takes you 10 volleys to kill them all and no overkills, but he will have full firepower for 10 volleys too! If you focus fire a bit more, lets say you damage 100% each on 2 units - after just 1 volley he would be weaker and deal less damage. And after only 4 volleys of fire he would be down to almost half his firepower only. It's worth a bit of overkilling to wipe out a few units quickly, so that he gets weaker.

Wether you use attack move or not, depends on micro skill too. Use what works best to kill off as many units as possible in one volley of fire.

Attack move is useful, but after killing a unit you right clicked on, units tend to be in an attack move status anyways, so they'll basically automatically attack anything in sight. In that case its probably better to try to let them be as much as possible, especially with a lot of lagg. Sometimes less micro can be more tbh.

If I''m not mistaken, if opponents'' units are out of range from your units, they will start attacking buildings as well, right? (I mean even if using att move)

I noticed some interruptions in attack moves when my units surround enemy's building or are inside his walls. My army instantly stops after clicking the attack move and doesn't do anything, which really sucks. Any advice or just you recommend not to you this in these particular situations?
