When you consider the APM it saves you, this seems like a decent trade. Obviously, it would get worse as the number of yacks (due to less available total food) or vils decreased, and get better as the number of vils increased relative to the number of yacks (though it would eventually get worse due to diminishing returns, or oversaturation)
It seems bad. It's probablly better to shift click and let the vills kill the yaks.
It takes time for vils to kill livestock, and they path poorly when shift clicked. Idk if that makes deleting the yaks better, but it's still something to consider.
i'll test it next time I have some spare time. i'm sure we will reach a conclusion on this question of extreme relevance that decides the fate of ~10f in late game.
Well... the best thing would be to delete them 1 by 1. Surely if a 5 food vill cost difference is a big deal the 50 food you would save would be game breaking and surely worth the extra APM.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
Unless you have a big fight going on, that's a rather easy task to do to keep an eye on your livestock that is literally under your TC and kill them one by one.
