Portugese forward base

Post by Asateo »

Hey,

Just played 3 games vs ports, 2 times with china, 1 with france. All lost. Now I have had this before, I seem not to get a respons to the port forward tc.
They take away your resources with tc and towers at a time you don't have much siege ability. When you do get infantry to siege the tc 15 or so minutemen pop out.

Anyway I'm at my wits end, how do you guys take on this port strategy?

no, rushing won't work because they can hold with mm + a unit shipment

1. herd
2. FF, cannon. Or raid with hussar, and go age 3, and cannon.

it's hard to break a forwad TC in age 2. however, port doesnt have enough units in early age 2, so you can just age up, or raid with cav then age up.

british grenadiers with upgrade cards. 109 siege with 2 cards, makes them OP vs buildings. this is in age 2 btw!

I tried some weird stuff out with china in age 2. I rallied with French cons and got grenadiers, and 9 pike shortly after and then steppes I think. My first card was vills, 300 exp, pike, then steppes. Noted, his only unit shipment was masks, and it probably wouldn't have worked in most cases, but it was unexpected I guess. Also, one grenades are used up, you can start banking for the 500 rec crates ( btw, I aged with flying crow wonder, which I know is unorthodox, but I was doing all in.) the 4 chokes are so small they do next to nothing but take up pop space. It was an unrated game, so I was just messing around mainly. Pretty all in game, and i doubt I could ever get it to work again lol. When my first flying crow came out, he quit shortly after. I wonder if it would ever be worth it to age with it in an off? That way you could have an auto upgraded unit ready for when you reach age three. But I think the 400 food us much more important, and the free army is nice too.

yeah flying crow isn't usually worth it, I heared, but grenadiers might be nice. I tried flamethrowers, they got good siege 2, but without upgrades they are vulnerable.
French + britt grenadiers, will remember.
Thx.
