Porcelain Tower
Porcelain Tower
Does anybody know the trickle for thePorcelain Tower? It's usually my first wonder (is this oke?), but I'm wondering if there is more trickle if you select the 3 resources or just one (aka is selecting 3 more valuable then selecting one)?
If no one knows, I'll have to go counting
Thx

Re: Porcelain Tower
Do net get fooled by the food value being higher. Vills gather food much faster than coin and especially wood. So it is most effective to have the tower on wood and vills on food and coin. Also most people use it to age to Fortress
Re: Porcelain Tower
Are trickle rates not listed in the stats (when you hold down ALT or used minimized UI)?

Re: Porcelain Tower
Generally you age to age 2 with summer palace with 4 villagers and porcelain tower to age 3 with 8 villagers. Alternatively if you feel your opponent has done some sort of no eco all in and you think you cannot hold the pressure with porcelain tower you can age up with the war academy for the 9 skirms.
The porcelain tower in age 3 on wood is equal to 8 villagers. It is a very good wonder.

Hum thx a lot guys, I'm rethinking my china play here.
I did the stats and idd
food = 357 VS worth (100sec food (3f/secfrom porcelain tower) = 300 food at 0.84 normally = 357worth
wood = 500 VS worth
gold= 416 VS worth
Export gets complicated :)
Why though age up with summer palace in age 2? China age 1 units are not that good, no?

China age 1 units (monk and disciples) are great! You probably mean age 2, and you would be correct, which is why you want that food from building Summer Palace to go straight to fortress.

Re: Porcelain Tower
Historically China's age 2 has been considered very lackluster and the civ really hits their mojo in age 3. Therefore the most common strategy is a naked ff and the summer palace yields 500f on age up which helps greatly with that. Not to mention it produces units that spawn for free and can help defend against raids and pushes at often the perfect time. That build, perhaps popularized by H2O, can be found here: viewtopic.php?t=928 (age to age 3 with 8 villagers on the wonder though you earn more resources). Note this strategy requires phenomenal base defense against certain timings.
However, that build does not utilize the early TP which China can build every game. This line of play has been seeing a lot of use lately and, imo, feels much smoother at the minor cost of one, no-market-up'd villager.
The real strength in this build though lies in its semi ff capabilities. With the extra xp you can do a pretty solid 8 cho, 9 pike, 7 steppe/300e/700g, 700w build and reach age 3 completely unharmed and even sometimes while harming your opponent.

The free army is often actualky significant. Popping at 7 and at 10 min, usually when other civs hit their timings. Also, with 400f, and the price for the summer palace units, around 500 res in 3 min, the wonder does not provide alot less res than age2 porcelain tower, while the age3 porcelain tower gets a huge big boost to age3, basically becoming 2x as good. While the age3 summer palace remains the same. The tower is also not as great to IV, becoming only 25% better than the age3 one. So for biggest boom, you should tower to 3 and 10 villagers to 4.
Re: Porcelain Tower
Alright, I'll definatly change my wonder BO and try the TP variant.
Thx again
