Best counter civs to Ports ?

Yes me again asking how to counter Ports lol ,

I have been playing mostly Aztec, but when I met a Port player last night I didnt want to click in, I went back to Japan thinking they would do well vs them. And Lost .

What civs are best to counter Ports ? Maybe France or Brits ? Or some other civ ?

Maybe your Japanese build was not the best because it is really hard for Ports to win against them.
I think France is the civ Ports are the most comfortable against (I may be wrong in which case I'd like a good player to correct me) but Ports' early fortress is kinda weak and Spain's early fortress is strong so I'd say Spain is good vs them. Also dragoons and especially cassadores lose to rodeleros if his micro is bad enough to get caught
Brits > all on the patch basically so yeah against Ports I'm sure they do fine

Yeah maybe my Jap wasnt the best that game, probably shrine boomed too much and aged too late. I probably need to practice some Spain by the sounds of it, Rod/skirm/lancer sounds like a nice combo vs Ports. Thanks for the answers anyway guys.
