flamethrowers the biggest troll unit ever?

I have had a lot of trouble with flamethrower masses. Mostly in team games probably, but I recall it happening in a few treaties I played too. Seems like nothing beats the FU flamethrower. Maybe FU royal guard cav, but you don't always get that depending on your civ. Culverin don't seem to work because they move so much faster, and i'm pretty sure I even had trouble vs them using abus as otto.

in team games, as soon as china ages up and starts cranking them out its GG to everyone else who is stil masing infantry. Even cavalry in age 2 or 3 cant beat them. Anyone know of a solution?

Basically ANY unit composition that can kite. Flame Throwers have 10 range.

yea but we all know what happens if you kite it doesn't work if hes afvancing on your base because you have to give up ground to do it. any kiting unit will not make significant impact on their range resistance before they destroy a shit ton of ur base

I sometimes play flamethrower games so this is what I can tell:
Remember that they are infantry not artillery!
Cav works especially lancer-type units, so do dragoons because they are fast and can shoot flamethrowers one after another
Cannon+cav is the best combo against them

Musketeers can fucking kite FT. It should be very possible unless you get sandwiched or so.

I think it is extremely hard to do as flamethrowers are a bit faster and deal a lot of damage to them, while musketeers do little damage to FT.
But if you did it once, I believe you

pretty sure culv do work, but their splash doesn't work well enough to be effective if they have masses. and again @yemeshi, you may well have kited FT withmusks before, but when your base is being advanced on en masse by flamethrower you are giving up ground to kite, and he is going further rand further into your base burning everything...."my town a burning ruin!"
