Why doesn't everybody buy 100w for early hunting dogs?

Post by Jaeger »

I'm watching Samwise12's only past broadcast atm (http://www.twitch.tv/samwise12_/b/655791780) In the first game on, he is playing French on Patagonia and starts with 100g and 100w, and had a 55 coin treasure in his base. He chooses not to buy 100w with the coin but to chop 150w instead. I think I've seen a couple other people do that, but it makes no sense. If you just buy 100w from the market you get your HD earlier AND have a better chance at getting early gangsaw.

Is there EVER a reason not to buy it, even if no gold treasure?

Well, it's important to point out that the number of crates you have is random too, it can fluctuate by 1. France, for example, can spawn with either 5 or 6 crates, whereas a civ like Germany may spawn with either 4 or 5 crates. So when you spawn with maximum crates it may be possible to just chop all the wood and still have no idle time (not sure about early gang saw though :P ). This can be better if your gold mine is significantly further away from your TC than your trees, as you will save vill seconds walking. It may also be good on maps where you are likely to find a wood treasure.

That being said, I would definitely buy wood in that situation as well :P

If you see a wood treasure in range of TC, which happens too often on kamchatka ')
