Well that's a personal point of view, but i don't like a lot decks that aren't polyvalent. I personally prefer to have a balance deck (at least in land), meaning that having some options for late game (5 cards/25), which allows you to face any situation. Losing because I miss some cards makes me very upset.
I agree. I prefer to have 1 deck that can work in most situations. I just don't think thoroughbreds should be one of the 5-ish boomy cards you have in a normal deck. I prefer eco theory, royal mint/refrigeration, mill/plantation upgrade cards instead.
I'm a separate note (please excuse me for going slightly off topic) what do you guys think of the 6 cuir card? It's worth 1800 res which is honestly huge for a unit shipment. I think it's decent in a specifically fi deck but not in any other decks though simply because unit shipments matter less at that point in the game except for maybe heavy cannon and mercs.

I like to have a couple of unit shipments in age 4 when going for something of an FI, so I'd ideally put in 14 skirms, 10 CDBs, 6 cuirs and 2 HCs. They you stabilise once you reach Industrial and generally are worth a lot in terms of resources.

, I know you're a FFA geek, but please refer to the OP or even the topic title (!), which mentions only 1v1 games. And it's not rocket science what you wrote either, it's pretty obvious to anyone who has played this game for a while.
So I just reread what my post had said that would have been so bad.... and now I see my first 2 post had nothing to do with FFA but were about this card. I was replying to umeu. with post 3-4. mentioning FFA because thats where I mostly play...
Before you start acting superior he does have a small point. Can be pretty annoying when pure off topic posts ranting about ffa pop up in threads completely unrelated.
Looks to me the 10% decrease in cost is better in either situation, which makes sense, because 20% is indeed greater than 15%. (VS = Villager Seconds, or, the amount of time it takes one villager to gather any resource, with gather rates taken into account) This is considering 100% of your units being cruis, or costing only food and gold. Eco theory should make a closer argument than a 15% single res card.

thoroughbreds decreases cuir cost by 15% no?
It also makes them train faster

I'll defend the card, but it's far from a sure thing. It's basically a Plan B or C card, very useful if you get in one of those age 3 stalemates, and shouldnt be your first option, but I keep it in my decks just in case.
I don't think riding school or early skirms are better, though I do have early skirms in some decks
a card that you get to use 1/30 games and that isn't game winning (unlike factories) shouldn't be in your deck imo

I'd keep in in my deck in most of MU's. It's just fking good in late game and your army comp vs many civs should be like 75% of pop gend and 25% skirm.
I'd actually have it vs japan since games tend to go industrial. To be more precise I'd say it's needed on water maps + team games, but not really in your typical 1v1 gp deck, unless you got a spot for it (i.e you have to choose between this and land grab) which I forgot. I'd prioritize both vill hp cards to that card also. Imo the real issue about decks is that most people still don't get that you need a water deck on water maps and land deck on land maps, that's weird
