Otto vs. Aztec

Hello,

I'm sorta new to this game, had it for a while but never played it too much. Recently I started playing 1vs1 supremacy with a good friend of mine who likes to rush with aztec. I tend to use Otto cause they're easy but I also like to use ports and dutch from time to time. I've yet to win a game, I try to match his colonial mass with abus/jans and i just can't seem to do it ( although i think its a good match for otto? ). I've tried early colonial play, late colonial and FF but no luck for me. I make TP's early and he usually takes them out pretty early in age 2.

Basically do you guys have any tip or strategies i should use to help in this match as Otto? Thanks. I'll try to get a recording next time we play so you guys can critique the shit out of my awful play.

chop 200w during transition, build rax+artillery+house when u reach age 2, send 700g to train 4jan 5 abus, then 700w for houses and stable. hussar is a must.

hussar and jani mainly. too many abus is a waste of resources, and will be countered by mass coyotes. remember that the best age 2 aztec unit is always coyote.

Yup from my experience its fair. Coyotes just skirt jans and wreck abus. Mace are effective enough vs HI. Maybe with decent micro abus/jan better but I dont know what micro means, Ive never used it :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: [/div]

but aztec has better eco, and can raid a lot with coyote, making otto eco worse.
otto has to train hussars.

I was thinking about going for jan/huss or even huss/abus into his mace/coyotte, but the more i think about it I don't think it will help to much more then abus/jan. I suppose i could give it a try at least, i think ill try huss/abus.

Ill try a pure FF, Ive only really tried a semi before. Hopefully I can play one tonight.

have you even played vs a good player who went jan abus?

I played GS recently 2-3 times in a row. but before you say anything let me just tell you that u have 30 coyos and 20 maces when he has like 20 jans and 15 abus so it's not like it's a matter of micro.
Numbers can vary a bit depending on specific builds (like he can skip stagecoach and send 3 huss) but trust me that aztecs always have more. Only jan abus huss is a problem but you push out before that happens and also without stagecoach that's not easy to achieve.

Btw I never had problems vs jan abus. I mean I even made a specific strat to vs that in the Aztec guide xD

I have to say I agree with the Garj (not drunk). Never had problems with jan abus as azzy, coy/mace crush it. Don't have any insight vs FF though.

The mass of maces and coyotes is just too big.

i assume this is the slow age warhut ageup build, im sure otto can adapt vs it. adding huss and aging being options...and that's if you're right that jan abus loses, which im not sure about anyway. do some games of it...

I dont use the slow age up anymore, there is one that is better. But slow age up still works pretty well vs jan abus. Aging is not an option if you commit to jan abus.
