On 200f start I think if you had 1 SW and 1 vill it worked out perfectly so that you could quee vills so that you would neiter overgather or undergather food, which means that you got hunting dogs as fast as possible. But you have to get them ASAP, I would do

1) Shoot animal
2) Send a SW to animal, 2 to crates
3) Let vills come out to hunt and the 2 SW gather woo/coin and build the market

300f 100w is a better start because it still gives you the option of aging up 17 idleless if you want to. Especially on some maps, where treasures suck, it's probably better to focus on aging up because without help from treasures you'd have too much idle time with market. With 200f 100g 100w, you would also have a ton of idle time if you market, but if you don't market you would still have idle time cause -100f. So 300f 100w = smoother age up without market.
300f 100w lets you also get an early TP if you want to. On some maps, basically, you won't miss xp even if you need to chop 100w before you build the TP (example : in-base GP TP, bottom kamchatka TP...), so it's still decent to take one ; plus with a significant wood or food treasure and/or livestock you can still age up 17 without too much idle time. You can't even dream of taking a TP on 200f 100w 100g however.
Then yeah, 200f 100w 100g is slightly better for market, but not that much : you have to chop 50w, mine 75g, gather 100f, instead of getting 150w 50g. In terms of VS, it's a 344 VS investment for the 100g start and 383 for the other one. And since you usually get hunt dogs much faster on 300f 100w (because you don't have to put vils on food early on) it kinda makes up for it.
So overall I'd rather have 300f 100w. Then again it depends a lot on the map.

I've never not done either market or TP in age 1. If you don't get anything, when do you get the market TP you won't have enough res for 5 uhlans probably, and you can't even dream about getting res for steel traps. Tres do suck sometimes on some maps but you can get some bad ones or even crackshot random guardians just for xp which will help a little

There are a few cases where you shouldn't build anything in age 1 with 100w 300f. It's pretty rare indeed but it happens. Basically a combination of those :
- you don't get any relevant treasure : on some maps treasures are shit, let's say sonora for example, or even on a good treasures map if you're unlucky. I sometimes just wait a bit before I do anything from my 100w, and when I see i get, say, 50g, I decide to build a market, otherwise without treasure I just build a house.
- when you're against a fast civ : like vs aztec, russia, otto... You don't really want to age 18 in qs vs those guys
- on a no TP map : why risk 18 age up on a map where you won't have to chop for a TP anyway ?

So most often I'd rather build market or TP, but sometimes I'm pretty sure it's better to just do nothing and age up idleless. Don't forget that idle time sucks very, very hard : 15 sec idle time = every villager you produce gets out 15 sec later = you lose approx 15 food per villager created compared to no idle time... And 18 age up is sometimes a pain as well. Depends on match ups and maps etc.

You are correct actually, that was an oversight on my part. However, I would say the worst possible start in that case is 200f 100w 100c, not 300f 100w.
Is it possible for the random crate to be none?
Iirc you always get a random crate and then on top of that there's a chance you get an extra food crate.

Well yeah except the random crate can't be another food crate, if you already have the extra food crate. 400f 100w doesn't exist

Can it be called the "Comprehensible guide to Germany" instead of "Comprehensive"?

What would yall's advice be as german vs a civ that likes to apply hard early pressure such as india or azzy? I find myself really struggling with germany against these civs.

Well, if you can get 7 cav out, you can pretty much hold with 7 uhlan, MM, and and 8bow shipment followed by an age up, or you can add a rax of 700w, make 5 dop ship 3 and try catch his units with dop/uhlan, germany is one of the better civs in the game for defending early pressure just due to those extra cavarly with the shipments. :chinese: hope I helped..

Versus an aggressive India i like to actually send 8 bows first and use my age up wood for a rax and 5 pikes to be safe from a potential 4 sowar shipment. After that send 700w for stable houses and maybe more bows and move more vills onto coin to work your way towards fortress. Send 3SW next.
Versus Aztec I start stable because if he goes for early pumas MM will do as they get a 2x multiplier versus puma. Then send 700w to add a rax and bows. If the aztec is not all out rushing you can go for standard 3SW, 700w, 700g to either age or add dops
In any case use your first two Uhlan to raid as rushing players will not have units at home to defend that

You dont need 8 bow, start 700 wood and make 5 bows 5 pikes. This and mm plus the free uhlans can hold, unless it is the consulate rush
