British Advanced Trading Post
On a map like High Plains or any map with a high number of TC's is going ATP with British viable to catch your opponent off guard and increase your economy substantially? Like for example going against a Jap player and going ATP + Virginia Company age 1 and booming very hard with having muskets to prevent raids.

Maybe if you could get a 210xp treasure you could send it second, but unless you're Goodspeed 3 vil first is really a must as brit

ATP + vc is too greedy. On a map like high plains you might be able to sneak in ATP after 3v on a 300w early tp start (make sure to build on op tp) but at that point it's hard to make that argument over something like VC with its nice eco *and* xp boost.
But who am I but a lowly captain who has never ever even once shipped atp as Brit. I'd imagine it'd be fun getting a free manor every 20 seconds but it's exactly that: a slower eco boost than vc and I can't imagine any civs that wouldnt be unable to punish it.

Pay more attention to detail.
Re: British Advanced Trading Post
If you want to do ATP, just play Ports or russia. I think it wouldnt be bad, but not as good as their normal boom.

if your opponent go atp, you just go vc boom, and try to kill his tp after you have more units.

I used to have some decks with ATP for the cases like Araucania, but it feels pretty awkward to do - you either have to wait for long for 700w to arrive or build a TP at the beginning that's even possible, whichis more expensive than an ATP equivalent. On top of that, you have delay and deny your manor boom, which is not really worth it in almost any circumstances. Moreover, on high-TP maps you can always sneak in one or two posts to get some of that advantage and possibly harrass your opponent's stagecoach, since 200w is not that big of a deal as Brits.

Re: British Advanced Trading Post
I guess stagecoaching could be a good option in those god forsaken QS maps. Even though it might be slower (and riskier) than manors it creates resources from nothing, which is really good for brits! This must be the go to option in some very specific situation we don't know yet
