1)Choose China
2) Gather up 200 Wood - Build TP
3) Ship 300 food
4) Go 10/10 White Pagoda
5) Gather 100 Wood for a foward Village
6) All vills back to food
7) Ship Steppes/Pikes and go in with 10 Disciples and 7 Steppes/9Pikes and have your fun
8) Lose everything to mm/ but save Hero for training 2 Disciples (you should have 11 vills by now)
9) Resign
10) Try it again

i tried to age up 17p with white pagoda, chop for a saloon, send 700w for population and put all my vills to gold for outlaw pistol/rifle. also you can upgrade your monk and disciples there. sometimes i find it good against aztec rush lol. (outlaw + disciple = musk + hussar)

In general, a strategy built around disciples is not a good idea. It is much better to just use them to bolster your regular army. By themselves they have low and hp and low siege - aside from rage-quits they are not going to win you any games.

ofc disciples as an army are useless, but with a small army monk+disciples can be quite a pain right? especially with th emonk converting random troops to his disciples in the middle of the fight...?

still working on this..

To be fair, the disciples and monk ARE very important for a Chinese FF - China relies on a small group of them and a couple batches of Old Han from the Summer Palace to tide them over to age 3. But after that all they are good for is tanking :/

ADVANCED MONASTERY.

With Advanced Monastery, you have access to: #1, a free pre-Colonial Age barracks. #2, mercenaries / outlaws for great justice. #3, Disciple upgrades. #4, can be sent while you're aging up. Would still like to see expert opinions on this, though.

#5, cheaper Disciple / Monk upgrades. Seriously, who gets the Disciple upgrades without Advanced Monastery? The upgrade price is a joke.

I play a lot of China and a disciple rush seems okay against civs which put on early aggression. (like Russia and Ottoman) My build is to delete the starting disciple, so that you can ship the 5 disciple card in age 1. Then age up with white pagoda with around 15 vills, followed up by the steppe rider (or pikeman) shipment. It's not very "good" and probably atrocious at higher levels, but it gives you a really good chance at destroying the enemy's FB, sometimes before he even gets it up. It's really hard for Russia and Ottoman to recover from losing their FB, so you might be able to sneak in an age-up after training some old han. It's a fun strategy to use as a gambit in a game you don't think you can win, otherwise, stick with standard China.

i found disciples combined with the rattan shield shipment isn't bad in team games. no unit mix is a probably a problem in 1v1s though.
