Guide to RE Maps

This guide is a work-in-progress! It takes me about 20ish mins to do each map so it's a little time consuming. I'll try to finish it over the winter holidays.

If you know the proper names for the treasure sets please tell me!
Dec 14 2016: Started guide. Added Amazonia, Andes, and Araucania.
The purpose of this guide is to serve as a reference for any players not too experienced with RE maps.

    - There is a "quick guide" for each map comprised of a checklist and a longer explanation on some maps.

    - The guide considers both standard and non-standard maps. Standard Maps will be marked with a " :pop: "

    - Livestock numbers and images are for 1v1 usage.

Amazonia
Water: âś” (no whale)
Trading Posts: âś” (2 routes, 3 posts per side)
Natives: âś” (Zapotec, Tupi)
Treasure Set: Tropical
Livestock: x

A naval combat map. A river bars you from your enemy, so you'll have to invest in boats to get your troops
across safely.

Andes
Water: x
Trading Posts: âś” (1 route, 3 posts)
Natives: âś” (Inca)
Treasure Set: Tropical
Livestock: âś”* (4)

Well-known in the treaty community, Andes has a wide-open central and southern area with cliffs in the
northeast surrounding the natives. The trading posts can spawn either in a v-shape or in a straight line
from southwest to northeast.

This map also spawns in a more rare(?) water variant with semi-fordable rivers that create isolated
islands around the TC area. Oddly, it seems that it's not uncommon for one player to spawn in the central
part of the map and another nested in the rivers.

*Llamas will occassionally spawn across the map (4 llamas alone in 1v1).

Araucania :pop:
Water: âś”
Trading Posts: âś” (1 route, 6 posts)
Natives: âś” (Mapuche OR Inca**)
Treasure Set: Tropical
Livestock: âś”* (8)

Araucania is a long, thin map with good water boom potential and good TP boom potential. Unfortunately, this map is quite low on hunt, and you'll either have to control the few hunts in the centre or rely on fish/berries after about 10 mins with most civs.

*Llamas will sometimes spawn on the summer variant of the map, with 6 in a pen in base for each player and 8 in groups of 2 in the middle of the map.

I'm also looking for comments from experienced players on RE maps. If you have knowledge about which civs/strategies/tactics are good for a specific map, comment it below and i'll add them to the post. Please do so for maps I don't have up yet either!

Good job! Keep it up, this is helpful, though I would say start with standard/quick search maps first because those are the most helpful.

The thing I noticed with alot of RE maps when I started doing this is that some of the map spawn variants are fine, and some are just completely f*cked... Case in point, Andes.

I like RE maps, they bring variety and require adaptation. Of course having few hunts is nothing to be happy about, however, one should deal with it!

@forgrin , the first image doesn't load for me.
The second spawn on Andes is pretty fcked, haha!
Also, does Amazonia always spawn with 3 TPs and one native? I recall it varied a lot — you could get even 3 native posts on your side vs 3 TPs on the other... :hmm:

Yeah it just stopped loading for me too, maybe the image got taken down :/ I'll make my own and re-upload.

About Amazonian, thanks for pointing that out! I don't think I've ever played that map and I only spawned it a few times so I could have missed that easily. I'll check it later today.

Yeah I was thinking about doing EP ones afterwards perhaps. I thought I'd start with RE because it helps newer players more, and the random variation makes the maps more difficult to learn.

I, on the other hand, thought that EP were done by their creators, so I focused on the newest. In RE maps there are definately inconsistent spawns.
