ye because he totally said you can stay in base for 60minutes as Japan and not have any map :), maybe 20min 25+ i doubt, also youd have to rebuitl shrines in base, which is really bad..

the most restricting resource will actually be wood. ashi dont cost alot of gold, so shrines will be fine for that. could even ship 2x 1000c, which is enough for 50 ashi's. make 3 layers of walls, and see how much trouble sioux has breaking yumi + walls. obviously this works better on some maps then others. A map with good chokes such as New England for example, will be perfect for this, while a map such as Great Plains will not be so good.

There is 2 ways to beat sioux. Either you push them really hard early on, either with a infantry rush or a timing push around 8 min. Or you dont fight at all and turtle up + boom. Trying to fight sioux in the midgame between 10-20 mins is just a recipie for rage fueled disaster as you see your 200/200 pop army disinetegrate vs 50 br and 10 dog soldiers.

, being a much better Sioux player than myself! But I also think that is map dependent! Is there any water available for the other player? or on great planes where Sioux cav can get OP upgrades when allying with natives?, is there trading posts?

yes, i already said it depends on the map. many tps being available or alot of natural resources, such as high plains map, would be good for sioux and make this strategy a bit harder for the euro civ. but its still possible to win that way imo. i played this mu vs wicked cossack on high plains, and i struggled to win, but i won in the end, even though he had the entire route, and i didnt wall that game. just used towers. though i was ports and imo ports just hard counters sioux. its a bit harder to do for slower civs, but then again, they usually have different advantages.

If you have a high shrine pop on hunts I doubt you'll be thinking that they are overrated. At least it's much more humane to have the animals at the shrines rather than having them hunted so Japan is my favorite civ for that reason

I believe they are overrated. Players running around the map sieging my shrines is not a problem for me when I play japan, they can be replaced easily, and they waste resources on age2 units (pikemen/musketeer) which will not be very useful later on.

though i hadn't really played with umeu with 4 layers' wall, i don't think that's an available choice. 3000hp walls are lame indeed, but they can't fire. if you don't have resources whiled sioux controls the whole map, i don't think you have chance.
japan/water boom can beat sioux cuz they have eco income: cherry orchard/fish and whale. german don't, and you can't protect half of the map with your walls. so we'll see sioux go 2tc, stagecoach, train 10 10 10 cav, siege dance, while you're chopping a lot for mills......

if he has map you probs wont have abover 110 shrine pop with hunts on them, unless its kamchatka with really good hunt

You can also build shrines without hunts on them.
With this playstyle they are used for pop space. The gathering rate is just a bonus.

Lol, so accurate. Reminds me of a game where I was Ports vs. Germans and ended up winning with xbow/pike mass in fortress due to the German player eating all the coin mines in the early game.

I usually go 3SW 700w 8 bow then 700g 600g for dopps. I think I did the build vs Soldier in the Summer tournament. Wasn't the best game in the world but it should at least show the build.
