I think people are going to start to realize that port consulate is drastically over rated in most matchups. With 300 w start im almost always making a TP now.

300w start is actually when port consulate is really good... You chop 7w, get consulate up, a 120f discount for your age up, and a shrine. If you TP you chop 25w, get a TP and a shrine, but you have to pay 800f for your age up, and also 200w later for your consulate. Btw shrine booming gives a lot of xp so I don't think you really need a TP as japs.

Building shrines and port cons vs a civ that has 40units under tc before it pays off is a really smart idea, only if 300w start i would go port cons

You get the besteiros anyway, which are better than clubs in most match ups, and as I explained it barely delays your age up, so what's wrong with that ? Didn't say you have to go kami and full shrine boom. Port consulate is just a superior build.

Nah I can't believe it's better, also for a slow civ like jap taking a tp is really risky because you might lose it early in a lot of match ups. But then it also depends on the map

Using 300 wood to make a TP, will very fast get you another homecity card, with 300 wood if you like. Then you can build your consulate, and in time for aging up, you will have another card available!
