they have a mess of hp so it will take some more skirm, they also can run out of there much faster, in situations falconets would get sliced up

Totally disagree with you there. Siege elephants are excellent units. You can't compare them to falcs. They are more a mix between culvs and mortars. They suck at killing inf but that's not what they're supposed to do. You can take out any artillery with them and then siege enemy buildings from a distance. And as cheadar said, they're very mobile, so you can retreat them, if they are attacked and heal them up with your monks.
