Conscript to Lieutenant — A Beginner's Guide to Basics
Re: Conscript to Lieutenant — A Beginner's Guide to Basics
Perhaps it'd be worth mentioning to toggle all those useful UI features in game settings

Coyotes actually lose to pikes and goons!
Re: Conscript to Lieutenant — A Beginner's Guide to Basics
There are many nuances and situational times where you will want to target different things, but as a general rule of thumb, this is how the game of Rock Paper Scissors goes.
I think it is accurate for the majority of situations

@site the point is about «light infantry» not being skirm-type units on TAD

Re: Conscript to Lieutenant — A Beginner's Guide to Basics
Well, I use a type of counter system that I find useful for troop compositions. There are 3 land unit types in addition to siege units-
a)Cavalry-hussar, uhlan, cossack etc.
b)Anticav-heavy infantry-musketeer, pikemen etc. and ranged cavalry-dragoon, ruyter etc.
c)Ranged infantry(RI)-Skirmisher, longbowmen, yumi, cassadores etc.
General counter system:
Cavalry beats RI and siege units(if they can get close).
Anticav beats cavalry.
RI beats anticav.
Combining all 3 forms a well rounded 3 unit combo.(Something of note from Goodspeed's guide about countering India:"You’re going to have to outmass them significantly with a 3 unit combo to stand a chance."I just keep seeing the proof of that statement.)
There are exceptions-
a) ranged cavalry also beats artillery but can be meleed by heavy infantry as anticav if caught.
b) urumi(regarded as OP by some) beats anticav and RI( 2 unit types) and has area damage.
c) oprichniks are cav that also counter buildings and has bonus damage vs
villagers.
d) Siege elephants are ranged cavalry that counters both buildings and artillery.
f) Rifle riders, a type of ranged cavalry, also counter heavy infantry.
g) Lancers have attack multipliers vs all infantry(They don't effectively counter very heavy
infantry like dopps, samurai, skull knight etc.)
h) Jaguar prowl knights have melee multipliers vs all 3 unit types.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

they are also artillery which means culvs have multiplier vs them
greatscythe11 wrote:f) Rifle riders, a type of ranged cavalry, also counter heavy infantry.
Don't forget that they are also "heavy cav", ranged cav have x3 vs them
greatscythe11 wrote: g) Lancers have attack multipliers vs all infantry(They don't effectively counter very heavy infantry like dopps, samurai, skull knight etc.)
No, they do not have multiplier vs light infantry (coyote runner, disciples, ERK etc)/
greatscythe11 wrote:h) Jaguar prowl knights have melee multipliers vs all 3 unit types.
Jaguars do NOT have multipliers vs Long Range Infantry (skirms, strelets, longbows, xbows etc).
Re: Conscript to Lieutenant — A Beginner's Guide to Basics
Two things I noticed lately at the major level.
Everything is slower. They don't react to greed well. Pushes are not on time.
When they do fight the mechanics are a major differentiator. Especially during in base pushes.
This is why playing Otto or renegado works imo. They remove micro from the picture and generally are hard to miss a timing on.

You're right.I think it was the video review of a tournament game between H2O(India) vs Kynesie(Japan) in silk road in 2016. Kynesie was using a culv vs H2O's siege elephant. Think I've misunderstood that one.Confirmed culv does 40x4=160 damage vs siege elephant.

Knew it.Forgot to mention it.My bad.

Just a convenient idea of treating all light infantry as cav. Spot on.

That was lazy.Haven't checked that for while I think.Thanks.
Overall, very good observations. Thanks for the corrections.
Re: Conscript to Lieutenant — A Beginner's Guide to Basics
U shouldn't make culvs vs siege else in sup games tho. It takes 5 culv shots to kill a siege else and 2 siege else shots to kill a culv. Dragoons and skirms just do way better
Re: Conscript to Lieutenant — A Beginner's Guide to Basics
The Gathering Guide on heaven, is it still up to date? (asian civs not on it, but do they have the same gathering rate?)
Got beaten in a japanese mirror. The other guy started farming more early, and seemed to have a lot more resources then me. That is despite the fact that I destroyed his toshugu shrine in the beginning. So I wanted to calculate when farming becomes better then berries.

Always send end 2 orchards before farming then consider making patties if you really want that better card, generally, I think.
