Russia late-game
Hi guys!
As Russia I don't usually reach late game situations. But when I do, normally in team games, I don't know which combo should be my all-in bet.
I'm talking about that point in the game when all the players have good ecos and we are entering in the spamming war.
As a French you know that your best army will be upgraded cav, as a british you may go with musketts-cannons, and as a Portuguese you should go for Dragoons as a main unit.
But as Russia... what would I do? Cav Archers - strelet? Mass cossacks to take advantage of the 1 pop cost? Falcs protected by Cav Archers?
I know some responses already: "depends on the enemy counters", "as russia you should attack in colonial". There are no needed. I wanna talk only for this case exposed.
Any recommendations?

Strelets, musketeers, artillery for combat and oprichniks for raids.

full strelet, with a few cossack. Let your mates do the anti-cav becuase strel in mass are just insane & you don't need to make many plantations this way, and can send other upgrade cards instead of plantation ones.

You really only need one unit, so it does depend on what your mates are making but either strel, coss, or cav archer are good. Also, don't forget to always be raiding with opris and you can probably mix in cannons depending on your comp.

Imperial strelets looks the most voted main unit.
The downside of mass strelets are the difficult to micro so much soldiers
I love cav archers, so I can use the gold for some anti-cav protection.

With strelet so late in the game no micro needed other than spreading them apart when facing splash attack.
You'll run out of pop before you run out of resc if your eco is good.

for teamgames i am not sure, but for 1v1 its definitly musk and cossack in the very lategame. just ask treaty players.
with allways full pop, strelets are resourcewise effective but not that pop-effective. 50 imperial musk + 50 imperial cos > 50 imp strel + 25 imp cav archer
ps: before imperial its strel, cav archer, cos(opri) i would agree

Well late game usually involves raids and units all over the map so u really need goons but in this case u need cav archers

ok, for catching raids, sure, CA are good. for the main battle is musk/cos and maybe some artillery the best, i think. its also that they are trained faster (musk instantly if u have all shipments send), so you are allways fighting with full pop.

Cossack + musket combo sounds good, too. But I wonder about no upgrading cards for russian muskets (and weakest nature of them).
What do you think about a Cossack + Strelet combo?
Both units in imperial grade could fight versus the usual imperial armies (such as skirms+dragoons)?

Depends on the match-up, largely, but Cossacks and Strelets are great. Rusketeers do scale a little better with every improvement, and you might want to use them in some cases, as well – offensively in particular.

CA are inherently better in late game just due to the fact that they are better in standing fights than they are when kiting? Also shouldn't artillery be better in the late game than strel just because they're more pop efficient? So only have like 20strel and use the extra pop for cannons?

Heavy raiding with opri's + strelet/cossack for fighting. I always try to have at least 10 opri's out on the map running around at any one time 20+ minutes into the game.

As with any civ just go for the most upgradable unit . With Russia all your 4 main units are actually highly upgradable so prefer the most pop efficient and most adeguate to opponent's main unit. 100 coss on the field is OP value if you think about it. But you definetely want proxy stables and constant opri raid, as late game is usually just trading units for opponent's eco. Big battles don't matter that much because you always have resources/infrastructures/techs to quickly respam the exact counter to what the
opponent has left. For this reason make strelets only for emergency situations since they are pop unefficient. You can easily train 50 of them if needed in few secs.

Only ever used it once. In Treaty it's prb worth it unless it sucks up too much wood.

you save around 3400 resources. if you boom properly its not worth. you shouldnt need overpop as Russia

It can be good, but late game naturally depreciates such cards as they lose their value.
