and the milking continues. Also means that they are not working on aoe 4. THey wouldnt release HD editions of older aoes if they were working on a new one.

Maybe they're doing it to keep the older titles somehow relevant while they're planning to make AoE4 soon!!!

Just a thought to keep myself believing

Yeah, Aiz got that and he questions why you think yohomes is less competent than the guys who already managed to botch up HD versions of both AoE2 and to a much greater extend AoM.

Speaking for myself, I have more trust in yohomes, who also rebuilds the game on the AoE3 BANG engine instead of 1997 super outdated Genie engine. Obviously DE is gonna get all the hype as it's an official release though. I'll wait to see more of this game before writing it off, but so far I'm not impressed much:
- rebuilt on the old Genie engine from 1997
- not on Steam
- not even on < Windows 10?

I'll admit the graphics look kinda nice.

Lol, nice top comments on that post:
are you serious??? Like that this game looks? Age of Empires 3 looks more good than this. Maybe it's just me but come on....compare how realistic AOE 3 was and how realistic this is. I don't know what to say about this..
Aoe 3 and aoe 2 still need you attention quit shitting out crappier versions of great games and fix what you have started. Either that or finally get aoe4 started.

Oh, ok, I thought you emphasised that they were a few steps, as in many, from being amateurs. :P
Didn't mean to insult anyone, I talk with yohomes, but FE and relatives are like professional gaming studios (regardless of the quality of their work), supported by MS. Though the former is definitely a skilled individual!

If they're using an upgraded engine I think they can do decently. I don't know anything about AoM.

It's when they first implemented the engine AoE3 uses. It's used for AoeO as well.

visit ageofempires.com and you'll be guided. I've been trying for a few hours and the site is almost alwya down or dies mid signup process.
Unconfirmed reports you will be required to have Win10. You'll also need to be 18+ (lol) and have an xbox live account.

GL

Yeah I always get stuck at the page where it makes you confirm your e-mail. I hit sign up, it says processing and then nothing happens, no confirmation e-mail and I'm still stuck on the page.

Edit: I got it to work. This is what you have to do:

$("#beta-name").val("Type your name here");

jennywaboom said that if you have the Age Insider badge on their forums, you're good.

What I'm pretty excited about on top of the release in general is „remastered" music, as the original Age of Empires soundtrack is still amongst my favourites :kinggreen:

there my opportunity arises: getting the feel of a new game without having to spend the time you would spend on getting familiar with an entirely new game.

So hyped! Hopefully there is more in the works for the future. A remastered 2 and 3 could well be on the cards. Cant wait to try the beta for this though.

Well its not exactly remastered, still in the same old engine and the graphics are still awful, it needs bringing into the modern era.

:hmm: Imo AoE2 needs no remaster, both graphics and gameplay are timeless much like KaM. It makes sense that they kept everything exactly the same and simply added HD support and properly working multiplayer.

How would you remaster Age of Empires 3? The graphics aren't outdated enough and the multiplayer works fine.

Our game doesn't need a new and polished version, just some bug fixes and an official balance patch :!:

what our game really needs is to hire one minimum wage dude to work only one day a week banning people and giving basic game support.

For real, I cant understand the decision behind full abandon in aoe3, I'm pretty sure M$ investing 100usd/month to remove the status of DEAD GAEM from aoe3 would have a decent ROI.

What can you buy for 100 usd/ month ?

Anyways, if they truly rebuilt the gameplay, then I have some faith that this could be good. Otherwise it will only attract the hardcore people bc aoe is not easy or fun to play without many new age rts expectations. Unlike BW remastered, it doesn't have the allure.
