Aside the atrocious aspect of the murder, 2 things intersted me in this situation. I'm sadly going to use very global group of people because my english is not good enough to bring the shades required.
- 1) I got the feeling that whenever the "left" try stupidly to cope with far-right, it just gives the food to live for the far-right actually. Although you hurt the far-right a bit when you try to remove the statue, in more extent, you also give them a reason to protest, to exist as a group and to emulate themselves.
- 2 ) I don't know a lot about the USA + I've never been there, but it seems that far-right has just nothing to do with what is called by the media "far-right" in Europe. Litterally nothing.

Re: Charlottesville
Well there's a difference between far right and alt right. Someone who's far is generally considered to be far right politically, so they're gonna believe in low taxes, big military, no wellfare etc. Someone who's alt right is the person who's a neo nazi, kkk, white supremacist etc. Generally speaking though the European far right is gonna be much more left than in the US, just cause everyone in Europe is more to the left.Rikikipu wrote:- 2 ) I don't know a lot about the USA + I've never been there, but it seems that far-right has just nothing to do with what is called by the media "far-right" in Europe. Re: Charlottesville
The statue of Lee doesn't have anything to do with left and right; it is a symbol of unity and reconciliation post-Civil War. There are such monuments all over the country, including in "Union" states, and on military bases.
