Your opinion on this PC?

Post by yoqpasa »

I'm planning to buy a new Pc from scratch. I'm still trying to stretch my budget cause 1.300 € is a bit expensive but I don' want to get ''bottleneck'' thing. So any advice?

It depends on what you usually play, i think you could maybe get a cheaper graphic card and be fine with it, but unless you are fine with a less performant setup altogether you can't really make big cuts if you want to avoid bottlenecking as far as i can tell. Keep in mind that you are also including a monitor and that this is a setup that will surely last for many years, so it might be worth the relatively high cost.

I would wait a few weeks and get something with one of the new intel processors, as they are a wicked good value for gaming. Also, what games do you play? If you are just playing games like Aoe, csgo or overwatch I would get a 1050ti and upgrade in the future. It'll save you quite a bit (idk how much 1050ti's are in europe bu they are about 120-150 bucks cheaper than a high-end 1060 in the states) and get you really quite similar performance. Even for stuff like bf1 and the new battlefront a 1050 ti will be more than enough.

From what I've seen in the benchmarks so far, the newest Intels (such as Coffee Lake i7-8700K) beat Ryzon in gaming tests, but they do this at the cost of higher TDP, higher thermals and frequency. And higher cost per computing unit.

So Ryzon has the most competitive prices, while Intel has the best gaming CPU right now, but they're overpriced af and have crap TIM (thermal interface material), which needs to be replaced if you want to improve its thermals.

So Ryzons definitely are the best bang for buck right now, if you can't say money are no object to you.

You need to get a decent system off the bat - best bang for your buck. At the moment that is:
Ryzen 7 1700
16GB of whatever DDR4 RAM
Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB
M2 NVMe SSD (WD Black is a great option)

Don't get a 1050 Ti you arent a scrub.

don't get a 1060, get a 1070 or 1080, its worth the extra money since you can use it for at least 5 years whereas 1060 wont be able to handle new AAA games after 2 years.

don't get a nvme ssd lol. Biggest waste of money. The extra speed is literally irrelevant to like 99% of people. The i5 8400 beats just about every ryzen processor, but a 1060 is all you realistically need for 1080p 60fps gaming. Generally speaking for 1080p 60fps gaming you want a 1060. 1080 144hz or 1440 60 hz you want a 1070. 1440 144hz you want a 1080 or a ti.

Thats true it depends on what you do with the ssd. 1070 would be super cool, but they are just inflated in price at the moment because of mining. 1060 = 1080p, 1070 = 1440p 1080 Ti = 4k hard out agree. The Ryzen is just better for the price than the i5. Competes with the i7s when overclocked.
