I do. A lot of philosophy, finished Marx, Nietzsche and Hannah Arendt a few months ago. Hmm, also history. Currently I'm reading the encyclopedia of sex work and prostitution. Talking about the bible, there are some interesting topics involving the bible in that book. Maybe it's something for you?
The brothers karamasov by Dostoyevsky: it is greatness. Besides, I also take it as a wonderful companion to the bible, although non christians could also learn from its revelation of dark souls:

Destiny Disrupted by Tamim Ansary. A look at the oft-ignored history of the Islamic world from the beginning of Islam to the 19th century. Engaging, informative and with a few dry humorous touches here and there, a great read.

My favorite book I read in 2017 was probably "Hunger" by Knut Hamsun.
Give the Samuel books a read!
