FIFA 2018 World Cup
FIFA 2018 World Cup
I thought it was about time that we created some hype around this...
Who's the favorite, who will be the biggest loser, how much will you be betting, will Russian hooligans clash with the British ditto, will we see beautiful Brazilian samba girls...?????
So many questions!

Starting April 20th I will intensify training of my woman as how to best serve me during the event, this includes (but not limited to) when dinner is to be served, at which times she can make noise in the kitchen and correct beer temperature.

Re: FIFA 2018 World Cup
Imo the top favorites for the title are Germany (since they're the current champions), France, Spain and due to recent performances and the big name also Brazil. Apart from many quality teams close behind those three (four) there are also many dark horses.
One of those is Nigeria, if they kick off well they can have a deep run.
Since Argentina has played like crap for the last four to eight years and barely made it into the WC, I say Argentina will be the biggest loser, losing to Nigeria and Croatia, drawing Iceland and going home on last place of their group.
As a personal preference I would like England and Belgium to finally show their individual quality consistently over a world cup - they're like the all time second row favorites

I think brazil and france are the main contenders to become a champion.also Messi can carry the Argentine side

France is def. the top favorite, I agree.
Brazil one of those, too, although they have yet to show that they can deliver again vs top teams.
Argentina was consistently playing horrible throughout the qualifiers and the Copa America, I can't remember their last decent performance. They seem even more dependent on Messi than Portugal on Ronaldo and yes, he can win games no question, but they don't look like a team - just a bunch of individual stars. They're of course to be reckoned with but if I had to pick one major disappointment to come, Argentina is on top.
Re: FIFA 2018 World Cup
I'm from Argentina and from the last World Cup I strongly believe we can repeat the achievements from 4 years back.
The only problem is that the coachs that have taken care of the team once Sabella (coach who drove us to the finals) walked away have a way of playing and distributing the players that doesn't fit the main role of supporting Messi like they do in Barcelona. Once they realize this, everything will run smoothly, just because he makes such a difference both in team and individual play. We have some of the best players in the world, it's unthinkable we gonna lose in early stages of the Cup.

Re: FIFA 2018 World Cup
The bad thing about this years wc is that there are no Italy and Netherlands

Re: FIFA 2018 World Cup
Thanks for your insight @Pacc21 , you probably followed closer. Yeah, if they finally manage to feed Messi properly with their other top quality players, they will be a strong force. I'm just not convinced that this WC is the time they will manage to do that, the hard fall still has to happen for sth to change. Also, the unthinkable happened to Spain just at the last world cup and they're playing three teams with a mentally strong collective playstyle, exactly the kind of teams they struggled with the most for the last four years.

I also don't think so, but Germany still seems to be underestimated because they have no definitive star player even though they are THE team of the last decade after Spain and current champions

One of the reasons they will not succes will be the lack of motivation as they are the current champions

That don't fit my perception of German mentality.

aw cmon man, don't begin that debate and keep it to football only (or soccer for our American friends). If they haven't grown up in Germany completely they've still all lived in Germany for most of their lifes and got socialised in German society. It's a common thing for families to have migration background in Germany due to its history and proximity to other European countries.

We have Neuer, Hummels and Boateng. I can't Imagine a better defense.
Re: FIFA 2018 World Cup
Dont underestimate China
Re: FIFA 2018 World Cup
@j_t_kirk Agree on that but there will be a problem on the left back position if Hector doesn't get back on the pitch soon and gets practice
Re: FIFA 2018 World Cup
Hmm. Neuer can replace Hector. He can play every position

France has really a great team, there is just their lateral defenders that are noobs. (Only Mendy is good but not sure he will be in shape since he is injured).
