The answer is both: a soft shell encapsulated by and connected to a hard shell via layer of refried beans.

I normally go for the soft ones because I can shape them however I want; I like my tacos shaped like ray vacs.
Pay more attention to detail.

I'm hard core hard shell. As long as it's not stale.
