Kickstarter is a such a joke -- I can't believe anyone ever pledges.

Saw this on reddit and thought it looked cool

Looks like a cool concept to be honest. Hope they deliver.

it looks exactly like company of heroes. more precise it looks like a futuristic mod made on the engine of company of heroes...
i hope it can avoid their mistakes, because CoH was pretty epic when it came out, but CoH2 was quite dissapointing :(

It looks bad. The best thing I saw was the artwork 5 seconds in which isn't theirs.

Thing I find interesting about this, is that there still seems to be a large public interest in RTS games (good RTS games) yet no decent sized studios seem willing to make one.
“To love the journey is to accept no such end. I have found, through painful experience, that the most important step a person can take is always the next one.”
Re: Iron Harvest: RTS backed by ~500 000$ within two days
The gameplay doesnt really look that interesting, does it? Nothing really happens, big machines and some soldiers just shoot at eachother.
Re: Iron Harvest: RTS backed by ~500 000$ within two days
Doesn't look like a "classic RTS" as they advertise. It looks like one of those CoH-style games where there isn't even an economy. Imo it's a completely different genre.

coh has economy, but it's very abstract. and doesn't require much macro. basically your army is the economy, and you gain more resource income by strategically manouvering your army to occupy resources. which is an interesting idea, but not classical rts yea.

It says base building, so I am gonna assume there will be some kind of resource gathering, technology researching etc

Technically you have an income that you are spending but it's not as much an economy as it is a direct reward for controlling parts of the map. There are no economic units.umeu wrote:coh has economy, but it's very abstract. and doesn't require much macro. basically your army is the economy, and you gain more resource income by strategically manouvering your army to occupy resources. which is an interesting idea, but not classical rts yea.
How is it "abstract"?

Seems like it's mostly buildings and bunkers though. I'm not really excited for this, it's looks quite mediocre.

yeah I guess so, but the video made it look very CoH-like. Then again, in CoH you also build a base. Just no eco buildings.princeofcarthage wrote:It says base building, so I am gonna assume there will be some kind of resource gathering, technology researching etc

Its not to say CoH is a terrible concept, I find that game quite amusing (just play vs AI too, cant actually be motivated to srsly compete). If only you werent forced to move units as squad, and if only you werent so fucking zoomed in.

Oh, for no reason in particular.

It's probably my strongest conviction. It forms the rock for which all my convictions are built up upon.Gendarme wrote:Can't believe I didn't see that.

. There are economic buildings in a CoH, and some units can salvage resources as well, or increase gatherrate. Making them sorta eco unit hybrids. Also iirc, some tech increases income
