faggot (n.1)
late 13c., "bundle of twigs bound up," also fagald, faggald, from Old French fagot "bundle of sticks" (13c.), of uncertain origin, probably from Italian fagotto "bundle of sticks," diminutive of Vulgar Latin *facus, from Latin fascis "bundle of wood" (see fasces).probably from earlier contemptuous term for "woman" (1590s), especially an old and unpleasant one.
Especially used for burning heretics (emblematic of this from 1550s), so that phrase fire and faggot was used to indicate "punishment of a heretic." Heretics who recanted were required to wear an embroidered figure of a faggot on the sleeve as an emblem and reminder of what they deserved.

He's just calling him 'useless old hag' afaik. Which might be highly appropriate in this context.

Probably antiquated definitions are not assumed to hold precedence over modern definitions and usages. But he could be, yeah.

What do you think? If someone says the same word to you, how will you react? If you think that's fine, then that's acceptable at least for you, but others who find it offensive will still file a report, and the community team will still have to step in and evaluate the context of the language being used. If even you think it's not an acceptable term to use against yourself, then please do not even think about saying it.
That is all I have to say, so make your own judgement and accept any consequences that follow, as you should be responsible for yourself, not others.

You used some extremely strong words in your original post, and it was just inappropriate for a joke. We dealt with numerous reports on offensive language every day, and yours was an outstanding one to say the least.
To everyone else, if you think using strong language is fun and have not got a single clue of (self-)respect, then I would strongly recommend you to rethink the purpose of your social life.
If any of you have disagreements on moderating strong languages in this thread or in general, please feel free to come over to SCC or drop me a PM; otherwise, please stop derailing the thread here and return to the original discussion (and any further off-topic posts will be deleted without any hesitation).
