Kendrick Lamar blames white woman for saying the n-word in his own song

Kendrick Lamar gave a concert and the audience wanted that one of them sings the next song. So a white woman came to the stage and sang it. Unfortunatly, the song contained the n-word what she eventually said. The crowd started booing her out and Kendrick didn't seem to know what to do so he blamed her on stage.

The whole situation seems for me very confusing and I personally wouldn't care but obviously I am white and not from the US. Can someone explain to me why everybody goes insane in the US when the n-word is said?

It was a bit of an over reaction honestly. The word is a very close derivative of a word which is essentially the most offensive word you can use in reference to an African American. Still the soft version if the word shouldn't be be used publicly only ever if your sure all parties are okay with it. It's kind of began to carry a sense of comradery. While it wasn't smart for the woman to say it, it's clear she didn't mean anything negative by it, so I'd tend to give her a pass.

I haven't seen what happened. But i doubt he reacted appropriately. I'm not sure if there is an appropriate reaction. That would assume a level of normality that's absent when it comes to racism.

A few decades ago "negro" was completely neutral while "nigger" still was an insult (vide Malcolm X and MLK). These days "negro" is possibly worse than "nigger"—at least certainly worse than "nigga". In Swedish, there is only one word for all of these as far as I am aware ("neger"), and it used to be neutral just like "negro" used to be. In fact, there's a rather large debate revolving the word here since oatmeal balls are/have been called negro balls in Sweden since ancient times and it is now obviously controversial.

It is an interesting debate, and it is fortunately still possible to discuss it. Hopefully the discussion can progress while it is still possible.

The N word is unique to America and it's like calling a Jew a "Jew" in Germany.
