GoT soon too. Louie started, Mad Men started, Silicon Valley about to start.... @whoever doesn't watch Silicon Valley: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx3wDTzqDTs Gotta love the start of TV season
I just don't like how the writers are relying on shock factor to keep audiences hooked. But you're right, it's getting to the point where each episode does little to advance the story in a coherent direction, and perhaps at least part of the problem is that the series has already overtaken the books.
I've seen the classics but there's no denying the industry as well as our culture has evolved in a big way. What makes a good show/movie has really changed and while I can appreciate any good show, I don't enjoy the old ones as much. A shame, but it makes a lot of sense.
Kids these days. (zzz) Hollywood has nothing original these days. People look back to the old days for a reason. I would argue but the topic has already been discussed years ago.
Your personality keeps intriguing me.
I agree with you when it comes to movies, film studios are increasingly relying on what they know works and don't seem to be taking risks any more. As a result writers aren't getting enough space to produce anything original or intelligent, or they do produce something original and intelligent and it gets dumbed down and standardized to appeal to the masses.
With TV shows however, the opposite seems to be going on. Of course there are a lot of shitty, same old same old shows that aren't even trying to be original like there were at any time period (except those are the ones that don't get remembered), but there's a lot of great stuff too. Black mirror, for example. Have you seen that?
A coincidence? No. But it's not related to the quality of TV shows. Youtube and PC gaming are pretty new, in case you forgot. It's not like people had the option 30 years ago and chose to watch TV instead..
Yeah I agree the quality of a TV show has nothing to do with the amount of money it makes. Quality is all objective anyway, there's no way people's opinions can have any impact on the fundamental value of a mass produced film.
I'm not actually a fan of anime tbh, its gems are rare and far between and even they are a little cheesy. Also, it's hard to find good shows when strolling around in the anime culture. Quality is not always rewarded and people have very strange taste.
