Its actually socially deficient that you (think you) need alcahol to have fun, get girls, be a man, beat your wife etc while before you were 18 you could do all these things sober :/ Drinking culture is 95% driven by anxiety and 5% fun.

I haven't drunk yet at the age of 16, despite the massive amounts of peer pressure :s.
I don't really see a point in taking part at all, apart from to fit in... Kinda awkward really. :/

Its not actually more fun, it just lowers your standards and removes other bounderies you gradually accumulate as you grow up in this society... And im pretty sure most people as adults wont have as much uninhibited fun as they had when kids, even if completely wasted.

Most people dont even like the taste of alcoholic drinks at first, they just like the the taste of rejection even less so they learn to ignore it

Again im not talking about having a drink during dinner or a beer with mates during a game, im talking about bingedrinking and such forms.

There is a point however where it has become impossible to drink even remotely enough water to prevent the hangover without throwing up while doing so.

And even if you do, it only really fixes the headache. The worst thing is just the feeling that you are going to die. And that every movement you make is going to get you close to throwing up, and every single bit of food you try to consume is going to aswell.

And it gets even worse when it lasts the entire day. Ive fortunately yet to experience the two day hangover.

You gotta puke after every second bottle and this is allowed, the fastest one simply wins. I know that its very stupid to do since it doesnt actually give you anything, but its done nevertheless. Fastest that I have seen was just below 4:30 minutes.
You just broke my heart :(
It''s the same like pouring the beer into the manhole. :surprised:

Wow..obviously I never said or implied that there was a NEED at all. I truly, truly feel bad for you. You should try it a bit more man, adds more flavor to life and you get to meet people.

Why would you feel bad for me lol. I dont have/need to drink or get tipsy/drunk to meet people or have a good time or get girls.

And you might not have a need for it (which every addict will say btw, though im not saying you are) but ive seen many people who do.

Its just funny that in a society that is so obsessed with health and fitness, alcohol is being celebrated as much as it is. And i believe sincerely that many people join in this cult more due to social pressure then their own volition, untill after a while their body and minds have built up a tolerance to this poison (which is i guess you know isa sign of addiction) that they believe its normal to get wasted, not remember a thing you did and regret most things when you do.

Alcohol doesnt really makes things more fun though, as i said before it just lowers your standards and makes you put down your guard etc. Aka you do things more freely without caring about the consequenses, including doing stupid shit. Otherwise no human would have fun before theyre of a drinking age, which is obviously ridiculous.

You tell me? People do it all the time though, its not like im making it up

Anyway im not saying i dont understand why people would drink a few beers and get that tipsy feeling/high, what i dont understand is why you would drink a another 10 beers after that untill u cant walk, talk, stand, and have to puke, and do thjs every weekend. I guess its mainly unstable people who do that =_=

its very simple. alcohol looses up the tight ass people like you.

you have a very bad view on alcohol, some shit must have happened to you/someone close/ur too religious/you listen to ur parents too much.

you do realize beer doesnt turn u into a wild slobbering uncontrollable ape, right? you can still judge stuff, unless ur hugging a toilet.

Lol you should join the psychology club with legend and benj because youre equally bad at it.

And yes it loosens people up, which is what i said pretty much. And im saying its strange you require alcohol to unwind. And its pretty typical for people who drink alot to say youre uptight if you dont drink, or dont like to, which is obviously bs.

And having 1 beer doesnt turn u into aretard, having 15 does though, which isnt so uncommon, and thats what im talking about. The attitude to drink large amounts of alcohol in short amounts of time as a sort of badge of honor is simply idiotic in my book, and dont find it enjoyable. If that makes me uptight, pussy or whatever you can come up with, i dont reqlly care

Well i actually agree with that...i mean i drink a lot (i guess) and im also like drunk every weekend or so....but i also dont get like really completley wasted that i cant walk or stand any more...i kinda dont get how beeing wasted as f**k can be the goal of a "fun" night. I mean sure it happens from time to time but not really on purpose :D. I agree that things are more fun with alcohol but mainly because being sober among tipsy or drunk people is like not fun at all imo... And i mean if you dont regret certain things you did while being drunk...well then you probably havent done imbaracing or stupid things while drunk...:) i mean man i have a huuuuuge list of stuff i did whlie drunk that i would not want to repeat at all....even if my friends thought it where hilaryous things XD

Alcohol is the only legal drug in most places so it really is no wonder that it's this popular.
Its not actually more fun, it just lowers your standards and removes other boundaries you gradually accumulate as you grow up in this society...
Are you talking about how objectively fun something is? Because that's irrelevant, as it turns out having lowered standards for fun makes everything actually more fun. After all your perspective on how fun something is is the only relevant way of measuring it.

But of course you shouldn't overdo it, as with anything. You're quite right about the binge drinking habit, it's pointless and mostly a result of peer pressure but it's also just the lack of boundaries that you develop as you get more drunk. Anyway, experience teaches you to stop at the right time which is why you see people binge drinking less and less as they get older.

the more and more this is getting discussed, it seems we are NOT talking about adults, that make conscious, responsible decisions....
im 26, dunno bout all you.. and I have learned from age 16, a full decade, how my body reacts to alcohol, and how i handle it.

Yes, that and their body is less able to get away with drinking alot without feeling the consequenses. And often they have to work, look after kids so they cant do that with a bad hangover all the time.

Obviously fun is subjective, i guess theat comment had to be viewed from a larger perspective which questions the neccesity of putting up barriers for which we later need alcohol to bring them down. Because people are capable of having the best time at 14 without alcohol, but suddenly at 18 its impossible?

Just because it doesnt apply to you doesnt mean its not applicable to others.

But you are right, this point mostly concerns teenagers and young adults which see the celebrated parts of the drinking cult but are. Not aware of and/or unable to deal with the darker side of it.

Also the more you drink the less capable of making responsible decisions conciously

Well if an adult makes the concious decison to getting completley wasted then well idk if thats a responsible decision :D....the older i get the more im scared about the hangover...:D when i was 16-21 i nearly had hangover...now with 29 its just so damn everlasting pain -.-

Yeah that is actually a pretty interesting discussion, the way people lose their ability to have fun as they age. You could look at it that way, but you could also look at it a different way: As you get older your idea of fun changes for many reasons but the point is that right now I wouldnt enjoy most of the things that I was doing when I was 14. Am I having less fun in general? Maybe, but only because I have less free time. Am I having less fun in the free time that I do have? I really dont think so. Its just that different things interest me now.

So I wouldnt say people lose their ability to have fun as they age. Coming back to alcohol, it adds a high which makes things that you thought were fun a long time ago fun again. In a way, people need more and more alcohol to keep having fun in the same way that they were years ago. The other option is changing hobbies, which is something that takes a lot of people way too long of a time to do.

Reminds me of how I dont enjoy TAD anymore unless high. Going by my own advice I would have to quit the game for real ')

this is the aoe3 forum, not a forum about socializing and partying. it seems that 95% of the ppl here dont enjoy socializing and having fun with others. just look at the women thread, ego, player replacement, etc. u can obviously see how their reactions make them unable to function in a social setting. when someone posts a picture of a model, everyone starts to orgasm on their encounter with a picture of a female. i even suggested they post their girlfriend if they had one, but they objected on that request. i wonder how awkward it would be if everyone on this thread got together to have a few drinks, eat, and just socialize.
