What would he say if he got frustrated at Putin? Also, from what a remember from the republican debate, Trump seemed most willing to negotiate and talk with Russia where the other candidates want to stonewall Russia. Obama got all the publicity he needed, thanks to internet (youtube, twitter) and not from the traditionally medias/the establishment. The same thing goes for Sanders. When u look at the Nobel peace price this year, we can also thank the internet/youtube for making the Arab spring possible.
