Recommendations for new mouse?
Recommendations for new mouse?
I've decided I'm going to retire my ~7 year old Razer Imperator, and get a new mouse.
Im willing to spend $50 or $60, I just want a good, responsive mouse, that I won't have problems with. I've had quite a lot of problems with cursor getting stuck on horizontal axis, and I saw ideas to use a blank piece of white paper taped to my mouse pad, so the mouse reads better. So for the majority of the last five or so years, I kept changing pieces of paper once they got dirty or wet from my water cup.
I now bought one of those rollup mouse pads, nice and slick, now i need a good, reliable mouse. Danks.

I like a lot of the Logitech gaming mouses, they tend to be both reliable and comfortable to use.

Re: Recommendations for new mouse?
Well everyone is just going to comment the mouse they have so I'll keep with tradition.
Logitech G600. It has 12 buttons on the side and it's meant for MOBAs, but I find it ideal for RTS, too.
For example I have my rax, stable, and foundry hotkeys on one row. Mele, cover mode, and ranged attack formations on another row (honestly if this was in the hands of a better player it would be insane for micro in a zero-lag environment). And lastly, alt (hitpoints), explorer, and idle military on another row.
I love it! It even has 3 separate memory folders (is that what it's called?) where you can make the buttons different things and switch between modes with a button. So i could have them all be 1, 2, 3, 4, etc for Diablo 3 and then q,w,e,r, for aoe if I wanted and then maybe something else entirely for overwatch, and switch between them at any time. Mouse sensitivity is saved for each mode, too.
Just a solid mouse.

Seems like Logitech is the way to go here. Im not into buttons on mouse, other than back and forward for internet use.

Zowie ZA series, Steelseries RAW or Nixeus REVEL Gaming Mouse.
No gimmicks, weird Logitech shapes or rough braided cables.

This is my mouse for around 1 year, I'm really happy about it. Lots of buttons, the scroll wheel is a bit heavy cause it's made of metal but you will get used to it. It has its own software which allows u to set different DPI's and you can save 3 different profiles.
Re: Recommendations for new mouse?
I had the g502 for 2 years, my buttons recently broke on it, and I replaced it with a Zowie ECA-1...good FPS mouse..but also very light with easy to configure DPI settings...( i dont like having 10 buttons on the side )

I have a razer abyssus which is not disappointing so far, I find it pretty comfortable and accurate.
Re: Recommendations for new mouse?
Zowie, steelseries, logitech or even cheaper brands. Just look for a mouse which is similar to the one you use now. The logitech 502 that lot of people are suggesting just seems way too big for RTS use.

Re: Recommendations for new mouse?
lol, am I the only one here with the most basic mouse, 2 buttons + a scroll wheel
Re: Recommendations for new mouse?
I used to, then I accidentally bought a 5 button gaming mouse on amazon, and it's not any different lolgh0st wrote:lol, am I the only one here with the most basic mouse, 2 buttons + a scroll wheel
Re: Recommendations for new mouse?
You don't need extra buttons. Only things you need are comfortbable grip and settable DPI. Nowadays all sensors are pretty much very reliable.
It actually is according to the specifics. Still seems less bulky than the logitech 502. Maybe it's just ahestetics.

Re: Recommendations for new mouse?
Mx518 is my mouse. They are discontinued now so I own about 5 in boxes. If you google it you can find the replacement versions.
Summary mouse should be:
Wired
Optical
Comfortable in your hand
The rest would be in software settings to optimize.

Hmm just curious, how often do you change you mouse and based on what criteria?
So far I only changed one mouse due to usury and it was mostly about the click buttons not being as responsive as they used to be.
