There's also the Dell 7000 2-in-1 https://www.cnet.com/products/dell-insp ... 00-2-in-1/

which looks better but it only has integrated graphics, so it probably sucks for gaming.

Programs, including games, that you use most (everyday).

And put everything else (movies, music, documents, programs you rarely use or games you rarely play, archives, old files) on the HDD.

Another one, this one comes with an i7 CPU and a preinstalled SSD and has somewhat better build quality (still plastic) but you have to shell out some extra 300 for that.

Well if you're willing to go as high as 1000, there are much better choices than at 750:

Image

Green parts mark the positives, red parts mark the negatives, yellow the somewhat positive but still not great option.

Notice that this model of Dell, which is from the same series as the one I posted before, has beefed up specs: an i7 CPU, 4GB video ram, both an SSD and an HDD, a 4K screen. But it's still made of plastic. Which may or may not prove durable over the years (depending on the quality of the plastic).

Another interesting choice is the Lenovo, which has an aluminium case and the best speakers and audio system. But it comes with a slow HDD and no SDD (you'd have to add it). And 8GB of RAM when others come with 16.

So, there are lots of trade-offs here, but surely for the extra 300 you can see a lot more power and, in some cases, better build quality.

I wouldn't make the choice for you, though, don't want to be responsible for it. :P

It pretty much depends on what you want:

If you want maximum power and don't care about build, the Dell has the beefiest specs.

If you want a minimum of power enough to run games decently but also some quality in the build or a better audio system, the Lenovo (no SSD, but 4GB videoram) or the MSI (SSD, but 2GB videoram) seem good options.

The Asus is the only one that has 16GB of RAM at the highest clockspeed, but only 2GB video ram. It also has a metal face.

The Acer seems kinda average on specs, no particular advantage, except it's the lightest of all.

hmm i dont know haha, im not really knowledgable in this area. Most important thing is the prize range for me atm, because the most important thing is that I have a laptop which I can use for work, gaming is optional. So I suppose something like good speakers and screen is nice, but not necessary. What's more important, to have high ram or high hertz? I'm considering the 750$ dell one, but you say that plastic might not last as long... so that might be an issue.

Thanks for all the help btw, much appreciated.

I just hope DE is not going to implement all of the EP changes. Right now it is a big clusterfuck.

You're moving the goalposts now. For office work, lots of laptops would do fine. You could prob do some gaming even with an integrated graphics one.
For office work ergonomics are important, imo, the quality of the keyboard, screen, trackpad (if you use it) etc.

Ok, so then i need one with a good screen and keyboard, cuz i got a seperate mouse and dont use trackpad.

Would it really be worse to use one of the laptops you listed before for office work? I did mention it before i think.

Idk, probably the best thing you can do is look for a shop in your area, go there and try it. If that Dell inspiron seems good enough, the specs are good for the price.

If not, there are other laptops with better build at ~700 bucks but they compromise on the GPU (only integrated) and weaker CPU, or smaller screen.

This ASUS seems like a better deal than the Dell, it has much better build quality and the specs are comparable:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0146DD02G/

But it's an entry level so it barely gets 30 FPS in Witcher 3 (bear in mind that doing video capture while playing may also explain the low FPS). Also this one has a dual-core CPU, not a quad-core like the Dell. On the bright side, the ergonomy and build quality are superior.

Gets 60 in GTA V

so how good it's for gaming is determined by RAM and GPU? And how good it is for office work is determined by keyboard and screen mainly?

what about this one?

http://www.dell.com/nl/p/inspiron-15-55 ... 567-laptop
it has 7th gen i7 processor,
265gb solid state drive (i have an 1 tb external HDD already)
8 gb ram with 2400mhz (can upgrade it to 16 gb ram)
AMD Radeon™ R7 M445 Graphics 4G GDDR5

ok cool. im leaning towards dell, but thats mostly out of habit and not having had bad experiences with them so far. as you can tell im no expert, so if there is another brand with better product for similar price, i would get that. what do u think about the dell i just linked above your post?

how important is it to have the latest intel core processors? like is a laptop with i7 but worse GPU better for gaming than a laptop with for example i5 but better GPU?

and, what about these? theyre a bit over budget, but I guess its ok if its much better

https://www.laptopplus.nl/producten/15- ... d-gtx-960m (I can upgrade or downgrade some aspects, so it ranges between 800 and 950)
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-15-6-Inch-Q ... fe370662eb (can be upgraded to have i7 processor but at the expense of the SSD for a HDD)

im liking the clevo and asus rog (its the one @Dolan found before but with 960m) atm. the acer also seems good and it's within budget, what you guys think?

this one looks good too
https://www.amazon.com/GL752VW-Notebook ... 00000&th=1
but the prices seem a bit strange to me... everywhere else it costs more for less ram and hard drive space

i3, i5, i7 doesnt relate to "new" generations of cpu's.

i3: dual core
i5: quadcore
i7: quadcore with hyper-threading

Ok, i didnt select the dell as favorite for 2 reasons, the processor, but youre saying thats not a big deal, and the fact its made of plastic. Dolan has warned about this and some reviews also complained about this. Im going to a hot and humid climate, i dont know if the materials make a difference then.

This one seems too expensive for what it compared to the Dell, kind of the same problem as the other ASUS.
https://www.amazon.com/GL752VW-Notebook ... 00000&th=1

This one might be nice but I read the word "barebone" so I'm wondering if there's a catch somewhere (no HDD/SSD? or no Windows?)
https://www.laptopplus.nl/producten/15- ... d-gtx-960m

This one is more expensive than the Dell but has a 940X instead of a 960X:
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-E5-575G-76Y ... 3012497011

The Dell really takes the cake here imo.

Ah damn, i didnt spot it comes without windows... I thought it just lacked a hdd =_=

yea here is also a good review which basically matches the video
http://laptops.reviewed.com/content/del ... top-review

it's quite heavy apparantly but I don't think it's too big of an issue, i doubt I will be carrying it around too much. the built in wifi thing seems like an issue maybe, cuz apparantly its not that great, but I might bring my old wifi usb stick or buy a new one.
