Been playing AoE 3 ever since it came out, mostly spent my spare time in university playing some games - it also helped as my course was a Computer Games Art Degree

Hi @NeptunesBeard1992. Welcome to ESOC, currently the biggest and best Age of Empires 3 community. Well, unfortunately as princeofkabul and fourmaster are among the best players in the game right now, sircallen is mostly just messing with them (and you) when he "volunteered" them to coach you.

Still ESOC is a very active community and I am quite certain a lot of players are willing to play with you. Our Discord server (https://discord.gg/0khRaPfhrkTKPpye) has a dedicated scheduling channel where you may find players of your level to play with you. I am probably the worst player here when it comes to skills and stuff, but please feel free to send me a pm on Discord if you want to play a few casual 1v1 games.

Btw, since you are new to the online community, you might want to install ESOC patch and use the integrated XP mod to help you with leveling up your TAD home cities first. Even after installing the patch, you can still play on the official patch with other players just like normal.

I understood that you don't have the 3rd expansion (TAD), you should get it at steam sales time imo (usually -80%). Discovering other rich aspects of this game with new civilizations, maps, natives, deck cards etc is really worth it

Most of the community will not play on the patch for normal games. It's just not practical to log on to a different patch for most players.

You should stick on the standard patch for now and play games that way. If you make a few friends with people who post here they will help you get the patch going.

You will need to allow it to install and override your antivirus. Ironically the way the patch works to prevent cheating is suspicious to antivirus programs. There is no malware included in the patch files in anyway so an over ride is safe.
