Re: Where is Xakops?
I saw him streaming the other day, same name and avatar. I deleted his tool after he just disappeared. I am not sure if its safe, it didnt seem unsafe but there was the issue of ip addresses showing up.

Re: Where is Xakops?
To be honest I would probably stay away from his tool. Ultimately you shouldn't run executables written by people you do not trust -- an executable like that could decide to track your keystrokes, steal your personal files, look at your browsing history, or any number of things if its author wanted. I don't trust someone who is willing to delete most of the stuff from the thread about his tool and make an "update" that actually uninstalls it from your PC. Likewise, his idea of selling part of it for a profit didn't sit well with me.
Overall it seemed like his moral and ethical values didn't align well enough with mine for me to trust his software.

Re: Where is Xakops?
I have scanned it with Malwarebytes, Kaspersky antivirus and Superantispyware and it turned out clean, but yeah his sudden departure from forum was weird and his decision to sell features was not cool. Too bad though, his tool had so much potential.

Re: Where is Xakops?
regarding the question. xakops is somewhere around
Re: Where is Xakops?
I've used it like 20 times in total to switch on the XP mod to help people and I haven't noticed anything bad on going on on my computer. Of course that doesn't have to tell anything in terms of security, though still, I trust it, personally. That said, I don't have the most recent update, I'm not even sure if it's 3.5 or lower
Re: Where is Xakops?
I had it for a long time, but i deleted the program because my friend list was always reseting and it was pretty annoying have to add names to your friend list almost all the time

Re: Where is Xakops?
I have the tool and use it. However, my security program was very unhappy with the calculator (I think that's what it was) and deleted just that particular file. I've had zero problems since and really like it a lot.

Re: Where is Xakops?
The tool is one of my favorites, if not my favorite, user-created tools for this game. I've been using the latest released version for months now and haven't had any issues nor have I had any alerts from my antivirus (even when I activated and used the free trial of Economic Calculator). I've also used TripMode to track all bandwidth that passes through and I've haven't caught any strange applications (or ESO-Assistant when it's "not running") trying to send data through the filter.
Sure, XaKO took off in a huff. Considering the perceived lack of thankfulness for the development of the tool after it's last update, I'm not surprised. This doesn't mean he automatically turns into diarouga, spreading hacks around (or hacking us instead). He just made ESO-A alot harder to get as a "retaliation" of sorts.
I also don't see an issue with offering an extra value-added feature (Economic Calculator) for a small ($5 iirc) fee. The majority of the ESO-A was free to use and enjoy. The economic calculator (and the entire tool itself) probably took a decent amount of work to set up, and he probably hoped to get a few $$ back from it to compensate for the time investment on the project as a whole. Why not get it from the individuals who use the tool's features more than most instead of taxing every single person for the ESO-Assistant download?
Just my two-cents.
Also, the NiceKING has spoken; glad to see XaKO is still kicking around.

Re: Where is Xakops?
Where is it released? Wasn't Xakops working on something else? If version 3.5 was safe and 3.6 wasn't, how can we trust this version?
So many questions, so little answers

How wasn't v. 3.6 safe? It literally only uninstalled the program from the computer.
Maybe he was working on something else and finished that and decided to do 4.0. Is it any of our business? Let's just be happy to have ESO-A back.
If one is truly concerned about the safety of any application, he/she should upload the application to virustotal or use a malware prevention tool to ensure its safety for your system. 21st Century 101.
