Change Minimap Border and Home City View Transparent

Hi, I'm trying to create a custom UI.

1. I want to get rid of the border around the minimap (it's gold on TAD).
The only part of the minimap that seems to be moddable is the position:

The border image:
Art5.bar: Art/ui/ingame/ingame_minimap_asian.ddt

I tried overwriting this file by copying another image and re-naming it, placing it in the right folder, however it does not change.
I believe you have to overwrite the gadget's background, but this is a <position>. I've seen it changed to different images in the Napoleonic Era mod,
but I have no idea how.

2. I'm trying to make the Home City View background transparent.
When I'm looking at my deck in game, I want to be able to see what's going on in game. I've looked in every ui data file, but I was not able to find any
place where I could modify this. My guess is that it's not considered a "gadget."

However, in the Napoleonic Era, they changed the home city backgrounds for the main menu, etc to custom ones. If I changed it to a transparent image,
would it work? Or does this view not contain the game view behind?

In both cases, the Napoleonic Era mod was able to change it, but I don't understand how?

How do you edit the .ddt file? You have to convert it to .tga, then edit and then convert it back to .ddt. I remember I did the same thing (removed the border around the minimap), I only edited the needed .ddt file and it worked.

Where do I put the file? In the art folder (i tried this and didn't work)? Or are you talking about changing the file and then re-packaging it into a bar file again? Does EP not allow that for UIs?

Yes, you have to put it into art folder with the same path as it has in the .bar file. You are doing something wrong I guess.

For what? I was able to remove the border around the minimap. I'm trying right now to make the home city page transparent. I've been able to get rid of all of the background and visuals on the home city view, however now it just shows up as black. I don't think it's possible to change it to show the map.

This isn't the UI I'm building, I'm just testing to see whether I can incorporate certain features.

O_o I had no idea that I had raised a prodigy.

Yes afaik the only things moddable about the minimap gadget are its position and/or size.

What files did you edit to create that effect? To me it just looks like a background gadget with black/incorrect filepath background has simply been placed over the homecity view, so transparency will not solve the problem. I say this based on the fact that there seems to be water visible in that screenshot, while the minimap is clearly focused on land.

If you do ever manage to figure out a way that'd be great though

One possible work-around is that you make it such that after choosing your deck, it enables a button that simply toggles the deck gadget rather than toggling homecity view. However this gadget updates when you try view an opponent's deck as well, so that causes problems in itself; also toggling the gadget when you havent chosen your deck and then clicking on the 'choose deck' button will cause your game to crash

So this work-around isn't a good work-around at all.
