ESO Community is happy to present to you Rikikipu’s Vanilla Mod !

Have you ever dreamed of :
- Playing balanced maps (ESOC maps) on Nilla ?
- Playing balanced maps on Nilla as rated games ?
- Playing ESOC maps on Nilla as rated games with a few balanced civs ?
- Playing ESOC maps on Nilla as rated games with a few balanced civs without CRC mismatch with other players on Nilla ?

Welcome to the Vanilla Mod ! This mod will provide your exisiting Nilla games with 7 maps imported from ESO community : Arkansas, Colorado, High Plains, Hudson Bay, Manchac, Pampas Sierras and Tassili :

VM stands for Vanilla Mod

[spoiler=Balance Changes]Balance changes :
  • TP costs 200 wood now, and 120 wood with ATP (taken from RE patch)
  • Wall hitpoints down from 1500 (from 3000) and LOS reduced to 1 (taken from ESOC patch)
  • Mameluke hitpoints reduced to 1200 hitpoints (taken from ESOC patch, but hitpoints are reduced(-20%) rather than reducing the number of mameluke)
  • Halberdier +1 speed point,+ 20 hitpoints , and cost reduced to 50 food and 60 gold (Personal idea for making this unit more viable)
  • Portuguese : +100 wood start ( Personal idea, 80f vills makes them too OP in team games. + 100w allow them to go for a tp or a market every game and go toward a direction of an eco/age 3 civ)
  • Russia : You receive + 100 food after queuing the first vill batch (taken from ESOC Russia discussion thread)
  • British : Longbowmen got +10% hitpoints (Personal idea, trying to make them as good as the RE patch)

How do you do to get the Vanilla mod ?
You can download the setup file here.
Download it and install the setup on your computer. It should work for both CD and Steam version of the game. I advise you to do a shortcut on your desktop of the Vanilla Mod because while you can still use the standard Vanilla launcher to play on the maps, but you won't know when there is a new update of the Vanilla Mod is avalaible. You can only play on these maps with people who have downloaded the mod. As mentionned before, this mod is much more an add-on than a standard mod, because it won't cause a CRC mismatch with other players
It only works for windows right now, but it works for Voobly and GameRanger.

One last note :
This mod is entirely done by Rikikipu. Balance changes haven't been provided by the ESOC balance team. Also, you are going to see soon new maps that aren't ESOC released.

Wow russia will be op now they already are viable in nilla this will make them my new fav civ on nilla haha.

Btw, about tps, did you also balance xp bounty and hp accordingly @Rikikipu ? Should be 40/80 xp instead of 50/100 and 2500 hp instead of 3000 (that one actually matters a lot because 3000 hp tps are longer to build and make you miss the first xp on some maps :/ like our dear gp :O )
Vanilla russia was strong because of shit maps mainly, with esoc maps they will need a buff just like they do on ep... It's true that strelets are much better vs cav on nilla, and cav is kinda russia's weakness, but also consider that they don't have distributivism and boyars is only 10% 10%.

@Rikikipu if you launch the game from the normal launcher will the balance changes not be included?

this is amazing gonna download asap tomorrow, i know this is a crazy question but is it possible to have the TAD key bindings in nilla?
there are just a few more options in TAD that makes playing the game a whole lot easier but i am a nilla slut..

I own the CD version of the game. I downloaded the mod to C:/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Games/Age of Empires III just like i was told but whenever I try running the VanillaMod.exe i get the error "ConsoleApplication16 has stopped working". Can somebody help? Also, when I run it through the regular launcher the only map that shows up under custom maps is High Plains. I checked in My Documents/My Games/Age of Empires 3/RM and indeed the only thing i found there were the .xs and .xml files for high plains. All the other .xs and .xml files were placed in C:/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Games/Age of Empires III. I moved them all over but the mod still does not run.

It will still have balance changes. The balance changes are written in the maps themselves (this is why the mod does not cause CRC Mismatch). So, you will have civ balance only if you play on ESOC maps, included in the mod.

Yeah, it's not working for the CD version for me either. I run it, and ConsoleApplication16 (sounds like a Visual Studio solution to me) shows up briefly on the Task Manager and disappears. I saw your game, and tried to join it, but the Vanilla launcher doesn't work.

@Rikikipu one thing I noticed (I'm not sure if this is because I'm on cd version or not) is that all the .xs .xml and .set files were placed in the root folder when they need to be placed in the /RM directory. I'm sure this is just a problem with the installer but I wanted to let you know.
