Map: Dead Marsh

I made another map. The theme of this one is no hunts, just berries, and you start with an outpost wagon.

Just played a few games vs. ai just to get the feel of the map, and quite honestly, it doesnt play that much slower than some other maps. I was using ports, and my build order was this: furrier, age with 500f, 700w, spice trade, 700f. I did like a forward rax and tc with musket pressure. I was aging only 5-10 seconds slower than normal, and I even aged with 13 vills no idle one time because of how many food treasures there are on the map. I actually liked it a fair bit and could actually see competitive games being played on it somehow.

It would actually be interesting to see the meta for this map evolve if it were to be placed in the tournament map pool. Im thinking about how pros might place the outpost wagon.

exactly what I was thinking. Some of the islands spawn with two berry patches, or there are two patches/mines very close to each other, and thats where I placed my tower.

Isn't it just starve? Nothing really new I guess.

But I like the map nonetheless, looks cool!

Kinda like starve but the berries are right in your base, and you actually dont gather too much less food.

Comparable to Cascade, although to be fair it's the only berry-rich starve map :hmm:

Not so sure bout that ...

When you consider guys like spider and dydd reach brig np with max 5 shrines every game ... then assume every other civ can't hunt and you get infinite berries ...

Pretty sure they'd be more than competitive.

to my understanding the berry upgrades at the market only work for orchards and not for bushes, and there would also be a lack of hunts to increase shrine gathering.

I wonder what it would be like to have 1 native out post of (the one that trains tiger claws) to fight over to get 40% tech! i guess some civs would be too OP and get it first thing just to hold it.

Russia is one of the better civs on this map IMO. Furrier as a first card is actually good, worth 2.1 vills right when it is shipped, and keeps on growing all game. Eco theory is also a good card. That with the cheaper vills, efficient units, as well as blockhouses, means they can take map control and have a decent eco.
